Yesterday, we were proud to support and participate in the landmark parliamentary event, "Sickle Cell Disease: France’s Leading Rare Disease – Addressing Patient Challenges," held at the Assemblée Nationale under the sponsorship of MPs Olivier SERVA, Béatrice BELLAY and Maud-M. PETIT This event brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, and researchers to address the urgent need for equitable access to care, increased awareness, and better resources for individuals living with sickle cell disease. Key discussions highlighted: - Persistent healthcare inequalities and the barriers faced by over 30,000 individuals with Sickle Cell Disease in France. - A need for multi-stakeholder collaboration to unlock access barriers in France. - A legislative proposal aimed at reducing disparities and supporting comprehensive care solutions. Terumo BCT remains dedicated to improving access to treatment for Sickle Cell Disease, reducing health inequities, and fostering strategic dialogues with stakeholders. 💪 Enhancing Quality of Life in Sickle Cell Disease 💪 “A sickle cell disease pain crisis is indescribable. It takes your breath, it takes everything,” says Bola Jibodu, a #SickleCellWarrior from the UK. Patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) are haunted by the looming threat of acute pain crises that could land them in the hospital. Thankfully, a therapeutic avenue exists to prevent pain and other dangerous complications. Automated red blood cell exchange (aRBCX) removes the problematic sickled blood cells and replaces them with healthy donated cells. Not only was it a great experience to bond and get some exercise, but we also raised €10,000 as a team.
