Congratulations to Tetra Tech’s Ken Mika, PE, BCGE, FASCE on his AGP Geotechnical Engineer Board Certification! Ken was recently recognized in December’s issue of GeoStrata for his new certification, as well as his incredible career in Geotechnical Engineering. Ken leads our construction quality assurance team and has won numerous awards for projects in the environmental field. Congratulations to Debra Darby, CCP / TRUE Zero Waste Advisor on her appointment to the Compost Research & Education Foundation (CREF)’s (CREF) 2025 Board of Trustees! Debra has been a client manager with Tetra Tech for five years and is the leader of our organics management group. Debra is a Certified Composting Professional (CCP®) through the @US Composting Council. She also is a certified TRUE Zero Waste Advisor who assists municipal clients with sustainable materials management and waste reduction goals. The CREF supports scientific research, increases awareness, and educates practitioners and the public to advance environmentally and economically sustainable organics recycling. This month Southern California has experienced unprecedented and devastating wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires. Our thoughts are with our colleagues, their families and friends, our clients, and all the impacted communities across Los Angeles County. To date, nearly 50,000 acres of land have burned, 15,800 structures have been destroyed, and tragically, 27 lives have been lost. The full scope of the impacts is not yet known, and dangerous fire weather conditions continue throughout the region. Tetra Tech and our employees are supporting the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region to assist disaster-affected communities. Tetra Tech CEO Dan Batrack said, “The recovery and rebuilding will take time, and we are committed to supporting our colleagues, clients, and communities throughout the process.”
