🌟 Exciting News from UT Austin's Career Success Initiative! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce the launch of two innovative platforms this spring aimed at elevating and expanding career services campus-wide. "Student needs have evolved and over the past several decades, best-in-class career services have shifted from more manual, transactional models to holistic and scalable approaches, explained Daniel Liu, Executive Director in the Transformation and Strategy Office. 🔹 CareerSuccess@UTexas (a reporting and career research platform by third-party vendor 12twenty) is a game-changer, providing students with access to comprehensive career research tools, including salary databases, job trends, and insights from peer Longhorns and peer universities like Harvard and Yale. “For the first time in UT’s history, all of the colleges and schools are now collecting and reporting on post-graduation outcomes on the same platform." - Robert Vega 🔹 Management Consulted offers invaluable resources for case interview preparation and consulting careers, equipping students with essential problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities applicable across industries. These initiatives are a testament to our commitment to holistic student support. We're excited to see how these platforms will transform the career landscape at UT Austin and beyond! 🎓💼 #ChangeStartsHere #CareerSuccess #UTAustin #HigherEd #StudentSupport #CareerDevelopment #hireutexas #whatstartshere The University of Texas at Austin

I am excited to have recently hosted a 2-part workshop series focused on 'Infusing Storytelling in Academic Life' with UMD's psychology professor and mentor, Andres De Los Reyes! Over the two-day event, Dr. De Los Reyes shared his expertise on leveraging the power of strategic storytelling to elevate research, amplify impact, and accelerate academic career growth. Day 1 - Strategic Storytelling in Oral, Written, and Interpersonal Communication Attendees learned how to use storytelling as a framework for navigating their academic journeys. Dr. De Los Reyes shared the "and, but, therefore" approach as a guide for crafting cohesive research narratives and overcoming communication barriers - especially valuable for international students/trainees. Day 2 - Building Your Research Career Dr. De Los Reyes introduced the "Trilogy" concept, drawing parallels between crafting a successful research career and the popular Scream movie franchise. He guided participants in developing strategic game plans for their research trajectories, preparing for the academic job market through the lens of this compelling storytelling framework. A big thank you to Dr. Andres De Los Reyes for generously sharing his wealth of experience. This workshop series was made possible thanks to the funding and support from Texas Career Engagement | The University of Texas at Austin, especially Loren Cressler who championed this initiative and kept in touch with us throughout the prep. I'm incredibly grateful to my fellow graduate students AliMurtaza Kothawala and Tharan Suresh for their tireless efforts in conceptualizing, organizing, and bringing this workshop series to life. Their invaluable contributions were essential to its success. If you're interested in learning more about this workshop series or have ideas on how to further support the academic community, I encourage you to reach out. Let's continue the conversation! Happy National Student Employee Appreciation Week! April 8 - 12, 2024. "Here at UT Austin, over 11,000 students are employed by the university, playing a key role in our educational, research, and operational excellence. Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. At the same time, they develop important skills and experience." https://lnkd.in/gqbBbVSN Join us in celebrating our thousands of students working across campus on any given day. Our student associates included all majors, undergraduates and graduate students and hold a variety of jobs to keep the university running. We look at student employment as a high impact practice to support our students with major/career exploration outside of the classroom as well as supporting so many initiatives and projects across campus. 🤘 Thank you for all you do, UT students! 🤘 We will be sharing more this week as we celebrate the incredible talent at UT Austin. #BevoBrags Learn Here, Work Here #utaustin #utexas #atx #studentsuccess #univeristytalent #texascareerengagement
