At Texas 2036, we love the Lone Star State and our pets. 🐶 This year, I asked my team to gather their favorite photos of their furry best friends and tell me a little about them. On Friday, I surprised them with an office 2025 calendar for both our Austin and Dallas locations. With that, I'd like to introduce to you the Pets of Texas 2036.

  • "In the past, affordable plans may have seemed out of reach for many, but today, there is an abundance of affordable options — even free ones for millions of Texans," writes Texas 2036's Charles Miller. Last year, more than 20 million Americans – including a record-breaking 3.5 million Texans – secured coverage through the ACA Marketplace. If you haven’t explored your options, now is the time to see what’s available. Learn more: https://bit.ly/413LD3N

Just wrapped up a successful week sharing Texas 2036’s policy priorities and data on water and energy. On Tuesday, my colleagues Rahul Sreenivasan and Tara Tough and I met with The Rt. Hon. Sir Conor Burns to discuss Texas’ water challenges and opportunities. That afternoon I had the pleasure of joining Sarah Rountree Schlessinger, Kory Curtis, Doug Lewin, and Rep. Ana Hernandez on a panel about water and energy priorities for the 2025 legislative session at the Texas Legislative Study Group Caucus policy summit. Wednesday I was off to the fantastic Texas Energy Summit for which I served on the advisory steering committee. That afternoon I moderated the legislative panel with Senator Kevin Sparks and Reps. Donna Howard and Erin Zweiner. Generation, transmission, nuclear power, and water were among the key issues discussed for the next legislative session. On Thursday I joined my friends Taylor Landin with the Greater Houston Partnership and Rick Ellis with AWBD on the water infrastructure panel at the Ft. Bend Chamber Legislative Conference. The key takeaway from our discussion was that Texas has a historic opportunity in 2025 to approve dedicated, reliable funding for our water infrastructure needs. And on Friday, I had the honor or returning to KXAN studios to talk with Tom Miller on why the Texas Economic Miracle needs reliable water infrastructure (and funding!) in order to continue. Story airs next week! My Friday ended with another high note watching the movie, “Wicked,” with the fam. The movie, like my week, was absolutely fantastic!

The panel will review the implementation of key clean water and water legislation passed in the 88th Regular Legislative Session, including SB 28 (the Texas Water Fund), SB 1289 (onsite blackwater reuse), and HB 1845/SB 650 (the provisional water/wastewater licensing bill) and how these impact water entities and operators day-to-day tasks. The panel will then walk through water legislation filed in the 89th and discuss possible outcomes and impacts. Register here: https://lnkd.in/dSjenEaw
