We'd like to give a big Texicare welcome to Tony Rourke as he's recently joined Texicare as Senior Director, Underwriting within our finance team. With over 28 years of experience in underwriting, Tony brings a comprehensive background in the industry, including five years on the broker side with Marsh/Mercer. Throughout his career, Tony has successfully underwritten a wide range of groups, from small businesses to large enterprises, and has expertise in both Health and Life & Disability insurance. With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Melissa brings a wealth of expertise in health information technology, provider contract negotiation, network adequacy, and financial market competitiveness. Melissa’s background includes playing a key role in negotiations with healthcare providers and large integrated delivery systems within the state of Texas, leading successful projects that enhance healthcare outcomes while controlling costs and developing compliance-driven networks for healthcare payor organizations. Earlier this month, the Texicare team was proud to attend the TAHP Texas Covered Conference & Expo in Austin, TX. The TAHP conference explored a range of topics- from innovative health plan solutions for small employers to vendor tools to address operational challenges in health plan management. Several sessions discussed the impact of AI on our industry, offering predictions on how it will streamline processes and improve operational efficiency. Discussions focused on the high costs of GLP-1 medications and their impact on health plans, employers, and payers. Pharmacy Benefit Managers shared strategies for managing costs while ensuring effective disease management for members. Big thanks to everyone involved! Yesterday our team celebrated Thanksgiving at our Austin office with a potluck lunch! It was a wonderful way to come together and appreciate our team with some delicious food from different cultures, plus great company.
