We're hosting an AARP Driver Safety Class! The cost to attend is $20 for AARP members and $25 for those who are not. Led by a board-certified Occupational Therapist and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist, the AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers ages 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned. Registration is required and space is limited, so call 903.416.3627 and let us know that you're coming. To learn more visit here: https://lnkd.in/eCYnPX37

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (#PTSD) can happen to anyone. In fact, almost everyone experiences some type of traumatic event in their lives. There are a lot of variables that determine how a person reacts to trauma, both in the moment and after the event is over. Our team from TMC Behavioral Health Center is set up today in the lobby on our main hospital campus to talk about treatment options available for PTSD and other mental health conditions. It's hard to believe, but it has been over a year now that TMC has been offering Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy. This minimally invasive approach is used to diagnose lung cancer earlier and with better accuracy to improve our patient outcomes and survival. Today, we took the opportunity to bring in a demo unit to show our community how it works. Visitors of all ages learned about how this tool is used by our trained Pulmonologists, and many of them took a turn at the controls, simulating how to navigate through the lungs to reach a suspicious lung nodule. Radiology team members from TMC Advanced Medical Imaging were also on hand to provide education on lung cancer screening. Learn more about our Lung Nodule Program here: https://lnkd.in/eHQMX72B

Our second annual TMC Softball Tournament wrapped up last weekend, and it was the Rangers of Motion that took home the bragging rights and the trophy! Some rainy weather earlier in June couldn't stop our competitive teams from finishing strong. We want to say thank you to each person that organized, coached, played and cheered on our teams during this extra fun event!

Looking back at #FoodTruckFriday! Each year we encourage our hospital team members to share their feedback through an Employee Engagement Survey. We value their input and love to celebrate their participation. That's why our VOICE Committee, made up of representatives from different departments, hosted food trucks for lunch last Friday. You can tell by these happy faces, that lunch was a hit!
