I’ve been on a bit of an ownership kick lately. As in, own your part. A couple years back I saw a comedy bit on insta that spoke about the self-awareness of millennials (e.g. “I have anxiety in these situations”)… and then the expectation that everyone else will accommodate them. This is, presumably, in lieu of taking self-awareness to the next natural step: action. Does this sound familiar? 🙋🏻♀️ Where are you stalled at awareness? 360s are about awareness and without an extended coaching engagement to action the feedback, they are limited in long term impact. There can even be consequences. If a colleague provides a leader with feedback and no change occurs, it can feel demoralizing and lead to the perception that leader is unlikely to grow— and what does that mean for advancement prospects? This is an invitation to take stock of what patterns you are aware of yet have not begun to work on. Find a coach. How many executive coaches out there LOVE writing 360 reports? 🙋♀️
I'm going to hazard a guess that writing 360 reports isn't your favorite part of being a coach. How long does it take you, from cleaning up your interview notes to the finished report? My clients tell me that it takes them 4-8 hours. A half day or full working day! If you weren't writing a report, what would you be doing? ^ This is the problem I solve: I write your 360 reports (and team reports and culture reports and org reports and DEI reports), so you get that time back.
