Ghana, we are coming! 🇬🇭 🎊 We are thrilled to announce that the 14th edition of the Africa Fintech Summit will take place in Accra, Ghana, this October (8-10) at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). Registration is open, and a 25% discount is available for the next 2 weeks (use code GFA25 at checkout): https://lnkd.in/d9s66zjB. 🚀 This journey started in Lagos in 2018, and has so far taken us to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Cairo, Egypt; Cape Town, South Africa; Lusaka, Zambia, and Nairobi, Kenya. We are excited to return to West Africa, particularly Ghana, another burgeoning tech ecosystem in the region with a vibrant fintech industry. In 2024, Ghana attracted $102 million in equity funding, reflecting a 36% year-over-year increase, according to Partech. This made it the fifth most-funded African startup ecosystem last year and one of only three countries to have raised more than $50 million in equity funding. It also recorded the sixth highest number of equity funding deals in Africa (17). This keen investor interest in Ghana has been around for a while. For context, Ghana has raised more than $50 million every year since 2019 and even secured over $100 million in 4 of the last 6 years. Leading this thriving tech ecosystem is a fintech industry that is driving economic growth and financial inclusion on an impressive scale. Data from the Bank of Ghana showed that fintech transactions grew by 33.4% in Q1 2024, reaching GH¢576.03 billion. Behind this growth, you’ll find an array of thriving startups such as Fido, Oze, SecondSTAX, Affinity Africa, and Zeepay Company Limited, innovating in areas ranging from payments to lending. Telcos are also big players with the likes of MTN (MoMo from MTN), Vodafone (Vodafone Cash), and AT Ghana (ATMoney) offering mobile money services that have seen widespread adoption, with 73 million registered mobile money accounts recorded as of the end of 2024. On several counts, Ghana's fintech ecosystem is booming. We look forward to examining, spotlighting and contributing to its growth by connecting local and global fintech stakeholders while charting the future of Africa’s fintech industry. Expect more details after our D.C. summit happening on April 24, 2025! #AFTSAccra2025 #fintech #financialservices #fintechevent #techevent #growth #africa Zekarias Amsalu Dubale, FCCA Ghana FinTech Awards Ghana Fintech and Payments Association
