Advancing initiatives and policies that aim to increase healthy human lifespan.
About us
The Alliance for Longevity Initiatives is the first and only 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization founded with the goal of creating social and political action around the issues of combating age-related chronic conditions and increasing our number of healthy, disease-free years. Scientists are developing new longevity medicines that aim to treat serious diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, diabetes, cancer, and others, by addressing the underlying biological causes of aging. These new therapies have the potential to improve health outcomes, increase the healthy human lifespan, reduce Medicare and Medicaid spending, and generate trillions of dollars in economic growth. A4LI works with healthcare leaders and experts in the geroscience and longevity medicine fields to ensure the initiatives we pursue are the right steps to accomplish A4LI's mission. Ultimately, we would like to see governments around the world prioritize keeping their citizens in excellent health for much longer.

The bipartisan renewal of the Older Americans Act in the Senate underscores the growing recognition of the challenges and opportunities posed by an aging population. This progress reinforces the importance of continued focus on policies and initiatives led by us at A4LI that prioritize preventative health through aging biology research and aim to increase healthspan, functional well-being, and overall quality of life. We look forward to the House’s decision on this critical bill, as their support would reflect an understanding of the needs of keeping our older population healthy and making healthspan a priority.
The bipartisan Older Americans Act reauthorization passed the Senate last night! USAging thanks Senate HELP Committee leaders U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy and Aging Committee leaders U.S. Senator Bob Casey and Senator Mike Braun for their incredible bipartisan work and leadership! With yesterday’s Senate passage, the Older Americans Act reauthorization now moves to the House, and advocacy is needed! We need all OAA advocates to call or email their U.S. Representatives and push for passage of the bipartisan bill by year’s end! https://ow.ly/EZg850Upht7

We are excited to see the following topics be a focus of NIA for the next 5 years. Additionally, the National Advisory Council on Aging advises the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Director of The National Institutes of Health, and Director of National Institute on Aging (NIA) on its mission. The Council meets three times a year to consider novel research concepts and recommend funding for promising applications. These are the aging research concepts they approved back in September: https://lnkd.in/gAUDUZjg. Their next meeting, which will be virtual, is scheduled for January 28-29, 2025.
NIA’s investments in essential basic science have built a solid foundation of research infrastructure, discoveries, and resources for the broader scientific community. This helps us deepen our understanding of how to lead longer, healthier lives! Great news! 🎉 GSK has entered a $45M upfront collaboration with Relation, an AI-powered biotech to identify targets for fibrotic diseases and osteoarthritis. This partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing Relation's first indication, osteoarthritis—a condition that affects millions worldwide. There's so much we still need to learn about osteoarthritis, particularly how it impacts women and men differently. Relation's “Lab-in-the-Loop” platform will leverage human genetics, single-cell multi-omics from human tissue, assays, and machine learning to identify novel targets. Advances like this not only offer hope for better treatments but also pave the way for more personalized approaches that can address these critical disparities. This is exactly the kind of innovation we need to tackle age-related diseases and improve quality of life for everyone. Congratulations Relation and GSK!
💥 📡 *BREAKING NEWS* 📡 💥 ⭐ We are thrilled to announce a landmark double collaboration with GSK to advance the understanding and treatment of fibrosis and osteoarthritis ⭐ 🤖🧬🦾 Together, we’re combining cutting-edge biology, advanced machine learning, and our unique Lab-in-the-Loop platform to identify and validate new drug targets with precision. ✳️ This collaboration reflects the power of integrating human genetics, multiomics, and innovative analytics to address areas of significant unmet need and drive transformative impact for patients. 🔊 Read more: ➡️ The Times article by Alex Ralph https://lnkd.in/eDbU9_F4 📰 Press release here https://lnkd.in/ezy9Vzmu ⬇️ Endpoints News coverage by Kyle LaHucik David Roblin Casey Benjamin Swerner Edith Hessel Lindsay Edwards Jake P.
