Our fourth edition of Insights + Innovations is live! In this edition, Vice President, Southeast Region Bryan Mehaffey spoke about the growing popularity of prefabrication — also known as modular or offsite construction — and why it’s a solution for many new construction projects. "In our experience, prefabrication offers the benefits of accelerated delivery, lower cost of construction, greater quality control, and smaller construction footprints," Mehaffey explains. Congratulations on advancing this project, Center City District! We are here to support you making the City brighter, safter and amenity rich with our electrical engineering designs for the next phase of the Rail Park.
We’re pleased to announce that the U.S. Dept. of Transportation has awarded a $2 million grant to the Center City District for the second phase of the Rail Park, from Vine Street to Fairmount Ave, through the Reconnecting Communities Program. The grant will enable CCD to complete construction bid documents by April of this year. This will lead to the creation of a much-needed public green space that will link multiple neighborhoods together and connect both to the Vine St. Stitch and to the first phase of the Rail Park that CCD completed in 2018. We thank Congressman Brendan F. Boyle for his support in securing this crucial funding and our other partners who have invested in this project: The William Penn Foundation, Poor Richards Charitable Trust, the Wyncote Foundation, Connelly Foundation, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and PECO.
