  • With tomorrow being #NationalFarmersDay, The Context Network wanted to proudly celebrate the dedication of all farmers, who are the backbone of America’s food system.    Measuring their work in acres rather than hours, through hard work, devotion, and perseverance they cultivate the crops and raise the livestock that feed millions. Farmers not only provide food for our tables, but are also important contributors to vital industries including textiles, biofuels, and pharmaceuticals.   Their knowledge of sustainable practices helps preserve the land for future generations, while their efforts strengthen rural communities and contribute to the nation's overall economy.    Without farmers the basic necessities of life would be inaccessible, making their work indispensable to the well-being and prosperity of America. Thank you, Farmers, for all that you do!   #AdvanceAgriculture  #FarmersDay  #ThankYouFarmers

  • 🚀 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 🚀 As highlighted in our recent post https://lnkd.in/g74zisUS announcing the release of Context’s 2024 BTC – Global Ag Biotech Innovation Study, the biotech industry is thriving with a significant increase in both biotech companies and pipeline projects. The industry is experiencing explosive growth due to THREE key drivers. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘀. But why now? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁? In just a decade, the #biotech landscape has dramatically evolved. Previously, a handful of companies accounted for 90% of all global submissions for GM traits, primarily focusing on herbicide-tolerant and insect-resistant corn, soy, canola, and cotton. Today, however, dozens of companies and public research institutions are leading the way in developing diverse gene-edited plants and animals. These innovations focus on improving agronomy, disease resistance, increasing nutritional value, reducing food waste, and even enhancing agricultural worker safety. A significant milestone in this shift occurred in 2017, when the Broad Institute of MIT, Harvard, and Corteva began licensing CRISPR-Cas9 technology for agricultural applications. This technological advancement has opened the door for a wider array of specialized traits, beyond the traditional crop markets, and has spurred new investment in biotech solutions that align with evolving agricultural needs and consumer demands. These investments are paving the way for new pipeline projects across all industry segments and crop types, leveraging both transgenic and non-transgenic discovery methods. As specialty crops become more tailored to fit emerging trends, we expect to see continued capital flow into this space, driving biotech advancements. Stay tuned for upcoming posts discussing the other drivers fueling the substantial biotech pipeline growth! 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁’𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗕𝗧𝗖 – 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀.
