🚀 Code and Chill Inspiring the Next Generation of Tech Creatives in Hampton Roads! 🚀 I’m excited to announce our latest Digital Builders initiative, "Code and Chill," designed to inspire and educate the future tech leaders of our community. 🌟 Looking back at my high school years, I remember the curiosity and excitement I had for technology but lacked the resources and guidance to explore it fully. That's why this event is so close to my heart. It's my way of giving back and showing the younger version of myself—and every high school student out there—that tech careers are not only accessible but incredibly cool and creative! 🎨💻 During "Code and Chill," students will get hands-on experience with a variety of tech and creative skills: 🎧 Beat making 📱 App development 🎨 Graphic design 💻 Web development We'll have demos, interactive sessions, and a chance for students to ask questions and connect with professionals in these fields. Our goal is to ignite a passion for tech and creativity, opening doors to careers they may have never considered. A big shoutout to our sponsors Assembly Norfolk and reelist in making this event happen, also the dedicated mentors and volunteers who are giving their time and expertise to make a difference!🙏🌐 #CodeAndChill #TechCareers #FutureTechLeaders #HamptonRoads #STEM #CreativityInTech #GivingBack

Often times Self Taught Developers learn to code then hop straight into building sites without zooming in on the foundations of a Computer Systems Design. Lets go over a brief overview of the types of topics we should zoom in on when we find ourselves with free time. Understanding the Fundamentals What Are Computer Systems? At their core, computer systems are made up of hardware and software. The hardware includes physical components like the CPU, memory, and storage, while the software comprises the programs and operating systems that run on the hardware. Learn about concepts such as input and output devices, data storage, and processing. These foundational ideas will help you grasp how systems interact and work together. Role of Operating Systems Operating systems (OS) like Windows, macOS act as an intermediary between the user and the hardware, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Understanding Networks Computer systems often connect to networks to share resources. Learn the basics of networking, including how data is transmitted and the role of IP addresses and protocols like TCP/IP. Importance of Security As you learn about networks, also consider the importance of cybersecurity. Understanding how to secure a network is crucial in today’s tech landscape. Getting Hands-On with Programming Start with Python Python is an excellent first language due to its readability and broad application. It’s used in web development, data analysis, and more, making it a versatile choice. Build Simple Programs Start with small projects that reinforce your understanding of how computer systems process instructions. This practical experience is invaluable. System Design Principles Zoom into the principles of system design, focusing on scalability, reliability, and efficiency. Understanding these concepts helps you design robust systems that can handle increased loads. Case Studies Study real-world examples of system architectures. Learning from established systems provides insights into best practices and potential pitfalls. Engage with Communities Join tech groups and forums where you can ask questions and share knowledge. Communities like The Digital Builders are great for connecting with fellow learners. Networking Tips Attend tech events and meetups, and connect with professionals online. Building a network is vital for learning and finding opportunities. Continue Learning The tech field is ever-evolving. Stay curious and keep learning new technologies and tools. Expand your skill set. Apply Your Knowledge Work on projects, contribute to open-source, or start freelancing. Practical application of your skills will boost your confidence and prepare you for job opportunities. Join The Digital Builders for a group to learn and grow with! Happy Building https://lnkd.in/e6pCc5-g https://lnkd.in/evAh6sA3
