After receiving 12 separate emails from various organizations all describing the same issue, I knew this was something I needed to talk about. Right now, many districts are facing a critical issue: students with special education needs aren't receiving their full services per their IEPs. ⬇️Post-pandemic challenges, a shortage of qualified teachers, and low morale are major contributors. ⬆️However, the remaining federal ESSER-ARP funds present a unique opportunity to rethink education for all, particularly for students with disabilities and English language learners. ✅ That is why, together with Corwin Connect, I have put together two strategic steps districts can take to leverage their resources for long-term success! You can find the blog post in the comments below. I feel this blog post would be particularly helpful for the following: Center on Reinventing Public Education U.S. Department of Education Sacramento County Office of Education Edunomics Lab at Georgetown University Marguerite Roza Warren Morgan, EdD Barbara Smith Allyson Apsey and Valerie C. It is with great pride that I announce my new book from Corwin Publishing, Radically Excellent School Improvement: Keeping Students at the Center of it All, is out TODAY 🎉 This book is a testament to my life's work, to stand up and speak out on behalf of all children, and especially those who are farthest away from opportunity. 📚 Each chapter describes an aspect of a strength-based improvement process along with useful examples, case studies, and resources that are based on real life. ❤️ I want to acknowledge the enduring love and support of my family. They believe my pursuit of ensuring every child has the best education is worthy. Michael, Colleen, and Delaney, you fill me up so I can keep advocating for what’s right. Thank you!

I have a question for you. Are your organization’s leaders inspiring your team? In a recent McKinsey & Company report, only 25% of respondents said their organizations’ leaders are engaged, passionate, or inspiring. Here’s why: ⏰ In today’s VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity)-filled world, many leaders are focused on short-term responses to crises. 💪 This is where agile coaching comes in. ⭐️ An agile coach allows leaders to adjust based on data while keeping the overall improvement goals as its north star.

I have a question for you 👇 With the school year coming to an end, and reflection being done, if you could be the architect of your classroom next year, what would you build? 💭 💭 💭 💭 💭 💭 💭 💭 The data is in. One-size-fits-all programs are not the solution to your district’s specific needs. Educators, you need to be empowered to be the architects of your classrooms, not program pawns.
