Learn more about ERIC’s campaign to stop the dangerous proposed rule change to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) that would instead significantly reduce standards and build roadblocks to mental health support. ERIC is urging the Maryland Department of Labor Family and Medical Leave Insurance Division to revise proposed regulations implementing the state’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program to avoid compliance burdens and to encourage employers to continue offering paid leave benefits. Read ERIC’s press statement below.

ERIC’s work on shaping mental health and substance use disorder benefit parity policy also takes place on the state level. ERIC submitted public comments to the Colorado Division of Insurance urging the regulators to reconsider proposed state mental health parity regulations that would unnecessarily duplicate evolving federal rules. Unless corrected, this approach could create conflicting compliance standards for employers and threaten outcomes for mental health and illness patients. Read ERIC’s press statement and comment letter below.

The work is not done yet and we will keep urging Congress to finish the work they started.

Yesterday, the Partnership for Employer-Sponsored Coverage (P4ESC) sent a letter to the House and Senate leadership on the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored coverage. With employers already shouldering tax burdens, it is critical to protect employers and taxpayers alike from further burdens in the form of a health insurance tax. Read the P4ESC letter below.
