Geneva’s extensive collaborations have allowed for clinical innovations in TBI research. Our research is exploring new ways to optimize brain performance and recovery for the warfighter. #MilMed Identifying and treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a critical priority for the DOD. The TBI Center of Excellence is a congressionally mandated collaboration of the DOD and Veterans Affairs to promote state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe traumatic brain injury. Check out their 2023 Annual Report to see how their #TBI research helps improve warfighter brain health. Download here. 👉 https://bit.ly/3VEUGnC

As part of Geneva’s extensive research in enhancing female service member health and readiness, one investigation explores the effects of ketamine on combat-wounded women. This research explores how ketamine, commonly used as a battlefield analgesic, impacts fear memory and brain glucose metabolism differently in females compared to males. Utilizing advanced models and non-invasive brain imaging, this study sheds light on potential sex-related differences, aiming to tailor future treatment strategies more effectively. Musculoskeletal Injury Rehabilitation Research for Operational Readiness (MIRROR) had a tremendous presence at the National Capital Consortium's Annual Orthobiologics Symposium in Bethesda, MD, earlier this month. The symposium connected leaders and specialists in neuromusculoskeletal care across the Military Health System and civilian/academic sectors to discuss the rapidly evolving field of orthobiologics. Five MIRROR-affiliated researchers participated in the didactic and interactive panel sessions, which were approved to provide CME credit through the American Academy of Family Physicians. MIRROR continues to lead the way in MSKI research and education for our service members! :: Hilab has entered the research market in the United States. 🌎🔬 Our Hilab Lens device, designated as a Defense Product by the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, has been selected for inclusion in a research study to investigate “Most Innovative Technologies” by ASAIO at the 70th Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. The research study will be conducted by The Autonomous Reanimation and Evacuation Research Institute (AREVA), a program of The Geneva Foundation, in a project called “Point-of-Care Complete Blood Count for Prehospital Coagulation Screening in Polytrauma and ECLS”. This is an important, promising, and extremely relevant achievement for us, as AREVA/Geneva is responsible for accelerating innovative medical and scientific research, with a focus on military health, national security, and human resilience, collaborating with various U.S. governmental agencies, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services. Investing in research and development is part of our purpose, and this was yet another achievement that demonstrates we are on the right path.
