Exciting News: Deutsches Altenheim Rebrands to German Centre! We’re proud to share that after over a century of serving the community, Deutsches Altenheim has rebranded to German Centre! This name change represents our growth and ongoing dedication to providing exceptional care for seniors across a range of services. CEO Babacar Diop shared, “This rebrand is a pivotal step in our journey as we honor our rich history while looking forward to meeting the future needs of the senior community. The name ‘German Centre’ symbolizes our continued promise to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to residents and their families.” The German Centre campus will maintain its comprehensive range of services: Edelweiss Village for traditional and memory care assisted living neighborhoods, German Centre Home for short and long-term rehab, long-term care, and memory care, and Senior Place for Adult Day Health. With our new tagline, “A Tradition of Trusted Senior Care,” and an updated website, we’re excited to provide an even more accessible resource for residents, families, and the community. We would like to send a sincere thank you to our Board of Trustees who helped guide us through this process. Visit us at www.germancentre.org to explore our programs or call 617-325-1230 for more information. #GermanCentre #SeniorCare #WestRoxbury

  • Hearts of Love Honors Robert James, Vietnam War Veteran and 14-year Honor Guard for the German Centre It began with a mother's gratitude. After staying at a Fisher House while her soldier son recovered, she was moved by the community's kindness and wanted to give back. She learned to make quilts, pouring her heart into them, and soon others joined her, forming Hearts of Love. Together, they created quilts as symbols of comfort and care for veterans and their families. Recently, Hearts of Love honored Robert James, a Vietnam War veteran and 14-year Honor Guard for the German Centre, with a special quilt in recognition of his service. This gesture embodies the group's mission: to show gratitude and bring comfort, one stitch at a time. #Veterans #HeartsOfLove #Gratitude #Community
