“This is a time of tremendous change, and it also means that there would be tremendous opportunities for impact investors to step up and demonstrate how, by changing the way the world invests, we can improve the lives of people here in the U.S. and all around the world” shares Amit Bouri, CEO and co-founder of the GIIN, in a recent feature by Pioneers Post. In the article, Amit reflects on the implications of global political shifts, including the US election, for the impact investing community. Addressing global challenges like climate change and inequality requires significantly more capital — and a broader range of investors — than is currently available. Private capital plays a critical role in addressing these issues, complementing philanthropy and government funding. Introduced in 2019 as part of the GIIN’s mission to scale the field with integrity, the core characteristics of impact investing provide a clear framework for what credible impact investing entails, offering essential guidance to financial markets. These four fundamental tenets were established in partnership with leading practitioners to set baseline expectations for an effective, integrity-driven approach to impact investing: 🌟 Intentionality: A deliberate focus on generating measurable social and environmental benefits. 📊 Evidence-based investment design: Leveraging data and insights available to drive intelligent investment design that will be useful in contributing to ensure meaningful impact. 💼 Impact management: Actively managing investments to align with and achieve stated impact objectives. 🤝 Supporting industry growth: Fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing to build a stronger, more effective market. At a moment when climate finance is a central focus at COP29, impact investors are uniquely positioned to address the financing gaps needed to address these global challenges — and the GIIN provides a framework that guides all investors to act with both urgency and credibility to meet the demand for solutions. It was great pleasure to see so many people at our event in Danish Impact Committee together with the GIIN. Thank you all for participating in the lively debate and especially the panelists below for your contribution! This Friday, we hosted an engaging and insightful briefing on the evolving landscape of impact investing. A special thank you to Christian Rosenholm from The Global Impact Investing Network for sharing his reflection on the latest trends and key insights on impact investments. The impact investing market is maturing and becoming more diverse cutting across all types of investors and covering all asset classes. The large investors are starting to play a dominate role in the market. Although impact investors may have had different entrance points through climate or social challenges, Christian from GIIN noted that these approaches are starting to converge into a more integrated model addressing both social and environmental goals by applying a system perspective to solve problems. Christian also highlighted the need to avoid “impact washing” and maintain a high degree of integrity while the market is scaling, he encouraged us to keep moving forward, to get engaged - no matter how small the steps may be. Though the impact investing market has reached 1.571 trillion usd with a 21% cagr from 2019-2024, impact investing is still evolving and faces challenges. Christian call for action to us was to seek a shared language, infrastructure and good practices, so private impact investor can focus on competing on their actual performance in regard to both impact and financial returns. Following the presentation, we held an open and constructive panel discussion with leading voices in finance: Rikke Berg Jacobsen – Head of Sustainability Research, Nordea Asset Management Sandra Metoyer, CFA – Head of Sustainable Investments, Velliv Pension Rasmus Juhl Pedersen – Head of ESG, PBU - Pædagogernes Pension Maja Engholm Pedersen – Head of Sustainability & Impact, Novo Holdings Our panelists emphasized the importance of collaboration to define best practices, build a solid foundation for impact investments, and support a balanced approach between financial returns and measurable impact. The panel underscored that leadership teams need to foster innovation and lead the way toward meaningful impact. The event was held in the office of our association Active Owners Denmark with 50 participants onsite - a very full house! Those that could not attend joined the debate online. Thank you Carsten Terp for moderating the debate 👍 If you are curious to learn more about impact investing, please follow us here Danish Impact Committee for updates. We will soon announce a new event and partnership - and inviting all to participate. See you soon! #DanishImpactCommittee #dkImpact #AktiveEjere

Climate security requires smart investing. Here are some climate investing trends identified by the GIIN during COP29.
As COP29 kicks off, here are a few trends the GIIN is watching, and why these points are critical in achieving climate goals: 💡Invest in climate innovation: To achieve urgent climate targets, climate solutions need to go beyond decarbonization, with new technological innovations to reduce or eliminate emissions. 🌍 Focus on emerging markets: Recent GIIN research shows over half of impact investors plan to increase allocations to emerging markets in the next five years. It’s crucial that these investments include climate solutions, adaptation and resiliency. Notably, DFIs allocate a much higher proportion (97%) of their AUM across sectors to emerging markets than traditional investment managers (22%). ⚡ Focus on energy and infrastructure: Recent GIIN research shows that increasing capital flow toward energy and sustainable infrastructure will be pivotal for driving climate resilience and adaptation outcomes worldwide. 📊 Prioritize impact measurement: The recent calls for transparency and accountability at COP29 mirror the trends the GIIN reported on in this year's State of the Market 2024 report. Investors shared with the GIIN that using science-based targets and third-party verifications are ways in which they are making sure their investments are driving real impact. 🤝 Move beyond commitments: Country-level pledges at COP29, from net-zero targets to biodiversity protection, will influence the impact investing market as investors tell the GIIN that many of them closely track these commitments when designing portfolios in order to seek or maintain alignment with broader, global objectives. 🌍 When asset owners invest in climate solutions, how can they be sure that the capital they deploy is making the maximum contribution toward a net zero economy? 🌏 That is the question the GIIN’s climate solutions initiative seeks to address. Today, the GIIN is publishing a report that summarizes current resources and challenges for climate solutions investors. This report is the first in a series of inputs toward developing a climate solutions investing framework. Climate solutions investments can enable decarbonizing existing processes and creating and deploying new low- or zero-emissions assets. This work is critical to meet the goal of stabilizing the climate at no more than 1.5 C above pre-industrial temperatures and avoiding the worst consequences of climate change. Download the report to learn more today, and thank you to our partners Nuveen, a TIAA company and the Soros Economic Development Fund for financially supporting this publication. http://bit.ly/4elmZyx #impactinvesting #climateinvesting #climatesolutions
