Day 2 of the #C4CKenyaDialogue2024#Localization.

The Great Daughter was part of the Kisumu County Greening Initiative in collaboration with Suicide Prevention Day at Great Lakes University. The event featured a range of impactful activities, including tree dedication ceremonies with messages of hope and resilience, tree planting, and open discussions on mental wellness. Additionally, there were sessions on suicide prevention techniques and detection, as well as a panel discussion exploring the intersection of environmental conservation and mental health wellness. The initiative demonstrated a holistic approach to addressing both ecological and psychological well-being, highlighting the importance of resilience in both areas.

We participated in the Green Horizons: Film Fest for a Sustainable World, held at Mama Grace Social Hall. The event, hosted by Kisumu Environmental Champions in collaboration with Re-Earth Initiative Organisation and Be the You Community, focused on storytelling by young climate actors. It provided a platform to highlight current efforts, interventions, and the challenges faced within the climate action space. The event featured powerful films and documentaries showcasing the global effects of climate change and the struggles faced by communities around the world in combating it. In addition, there were live performances that creatively educated the audience on climate-related issues.

The Great Daughter was part of the Extreme Hangout Lake Victoria Hill Camp, organized by Kisumu Environmental Champions. The primary goal of this event was to promote the conservation of Lake Victoria under the 'Let Lake Victoria Breathe Again' initiative. The camp offered a unique mix of education and entertainment, including artistic performances, music, and eco-exhibitions showcasing accessories made from hyacinth.
