In a world that often feels dark, we remember Dr. King's message of hope. We can always choose love over hate, and light over darkness. #MLKDay

The Jewish community today is overwhelmed with emotion as we welcome Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher, back home after 471 days in captivity. Romi Gonen was shot and kidnapped from the Nova music festival. Emily Damari, the last remaining British hostage in Gaza, was also shot when she was abducted. Doron Steinbrecher was taken from her home at Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Every day for over 15 months, we have been thinking about them, praying for them, and advocating for their release. They have lived through an unimaginable nightmare, and our community will do whatever we can to help them on the long journey of healing and reintegration that lies ahead of them. We are hopeful that over the coming weeks, we will see continued hostage releases until every last one of the remaining 95 hostages are returned home.

We need your help! Please take a moment to send a message to the Senate and encourage them pass the “Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act” – also known as the International Criminal Court (ICC) sanction bill – to push back against the ICC’s historically unjust and misguided persecution of Israel as it seeks to defend itself against a genocidal terrorist organization. Today, the nation's highest court unanimously upheld the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act – requiring the China-based owner of TikTok, ByteDance, to sell the app or face its removal from internet platforms in the US. In doing so, the US Supreme Court not only is protecting national security, but has also taken an important step in addressing one of the main social media drivers of today’s antisemitism epidemic. The TikTok platform has helped spread anti-Israel propaganda around the globe since the October 7 Hamas attacks. In just one year, antisemitic comments on TikTok rose 912%. #JewishFederations will always stand against antisemitic hatred and bias, which is why we strongly supported this law’s passage at every stage. It will never be acceptable for a foreign adversary to sow hate in order to divide us. We look forward to the implementation and enforcement of the law, which was passed with strong bipartisan support in Congress, signed into law by President Biden, and now unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court, in the coming days.

“Once the fires started, we quickly pulled together the relevant staff and began the work that federations across the country are built for — coordinating Jewish community response, providing critical services and raising funds to help those in need.” - Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation Los Angeles https://ow.ly/yOqL50UHPME
