Between the distractions of our phones, our politics, our workplaces, multitasking, being a parent, a spouse, a child, life admin it is so easy to lose time and not give yourself space for curiousity and deep thinking. Then, in the profession of learning , we are asked to place one more mental load on someone who likely just has their head above water. So, first, I wonder if we start by helping people manage distraction and responsibility so that they can find the passion and space to be curious. Thanks to Tom Palmer for an interesting post this morning on curiousity that led me to this response! #managedistraction #deepthinking #curiousity #reflection #learninganddevelopment

Your brain has about 100 billion neurons - roughly the same number of stars in the Milky Way (really take a minute and soak that in). Those neurons aren't static either, they are constantly changing, rewiring, and adapting. This superpower is called neuroplasticity, and it's the reason you can learn new TikTok dances (or, maybe, important work skills) at any age. Neuroplasticity is like your brain's personal trainer, helping it: • Grow new neural connections (hello, new skills!) • Recover from injuries (take that, setbacks!) • Adapt to new experiences (bring on the challenges!) So next time you're struggling to master that new software at work or picking up a new hobby, remember: your brain is literally changing to help you succeed. You're not just learning - you're rewiring your own personal galaxy. How amazing is that? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch some funny videos. For neuroplasticity purposes, of course. #Neuroplasticity #BrainPower #LearningNeverStops #PersonalDevelopment #learning #learninganddevelopment #personalgrowth #brainscience #brainandlearning

I've always heard how Tom Brady was considered one of the best team leaders. After reading this HBR article he co-wrote on team leadership, I now understand how naturally he was able to stick to core principles of leadership within a dynamic, complex system with many personality types. Brady says " Maybe most of all, we mastered the ability (goaded on by Coach Belichick) to convince ourselves that a Wednesday practice in July was actually the fourth quarter of a playoff game in January. That got us used to the feeling of performing under pressure so that we were able to handle ourselves when the pressure was no longer pretend. By the time the season started in September, we were just so far ahead of other teams." This standout quote I grabbed from the article focuses on simulating pressure so that the team was ready when it arrived. I wondered how often pressure is practiced in orgs. While the information in the article isn't groundbreaking, you easily get a sense of how he consistently used leadership principles to understand the multidimensional human beings on his team(s). He himself gives recognition to how much harder his approach might be in a large organization, but if leaders across the org consistently used the principles, it would certainly create some impact. In this article he captures it so directly and eloquently. I won't bother trying to sum this up for you because it would be a disservice. It's behind a paywall, but if you have HBR or want to get the issue where this is featured, I would suggest a read. #leadership #teamleadership #teamleaders #hbr #football #teamapproach #systemsthinking #situationalleadership

Creating a learning culture, it’s not something that can be mandated from the top. It starts with leadership modeling curiosity, growth, and ongoing improvement in their own teams. It’s about leading by example—showing your team that learning is not just encouraged, but essential for success. Here are my thoughts on building a learning culture as a team leader: • Learn alongside your team: attend trainings, workshops, and discussions with your team. It signals that learning is a priority for everyone, no matter their role. • Share your learning journey: share key takeaways from what your reading or learning. This creates a ripple effect where others feel encouraged to bring their own insights to the table. • Turn meetings into spaces for knowledge exchange: Every meeting has the potential to be a learning experience. Encourage open dialogue, new ideas, and thoughtful questions. This transforms routine check-ins into collaborative growth sessions. • Be open about what you don’t know: Leaders don’t need to have all the answers. Admitting when you don’t know something opens the door for learning and problem-solving together. It also fosters trust and transparency within the team. • Celebrate mistakes as learning opportunities: A true learning culture embraces failure as part of the process. When we treat mistakes as a chance to grow, we create a safe space where innovation happens naturally. A learning culture is built through actions, not just words. When you show that learning is embedded in your leadership approach, your team will follow suit, creating an environment where everyone is growing. #LeadershipInAction #LearningCulture #GrowthMindset #ContinuousImprovement #LeadByExample #TeamDevelopment #LearningAtWork #CollaborativeLearning #CelebrateGrowth #leadership #learninganddevelopment #leadershipdevelopment

I’m finding that LinkedIn isn’t just a networking platform; it’s a living, breathing ecosystem where collaboration and learning are constantly in motion. It is peer learning at its best. Just like in nature, the connections you nurture here feed back into your own growth. There are no doors, no obstacles, you can engage with anyone at any level in thier field. Here’s some ideas on how to thrive in this system: 🌿 Nurture Your Connections Think of your network as a root system. The more you nurture it—through engagement, meaningful interactions, and shared knowledge—the stronger and more resilient it becomes. Relationships here aren’t one-way—they’re mutually reinforcing. 💡 Look for Emergent Ideas In every interaction, new insights emerge. Just like ecosystems evolve through diverse inputs, the conversations you have with people from different industries or perspectives can spark unexpected innovation. Keep an eye on the discussions that go beyond the obvious. 🔄 Adapt and Grow As with any thriving ecosystem, the most successful members of your network adapt and evolve. Share new ideas, try out different ways of communicating, and be open to learning from feedback. Your presence will grow as you continue to refine your contributions. By thinking of LinkedIn as a collaborative ecosystem, you’ll find more opportunities for growth and learning. How do you engage in this network to drive both your own development and that of your peers? #Collaboration #GrowthMindset #PeerLearning #ContinuousImprovement #LinkedInValue

This is a story about using AI for learning, and it offers pretty amazing possibilities. Just come with me for a moment… Ever seen those Instagram ads for Somatic Yoga? I’m sure I’m not the only one, but my feed is flooded with them. It’s almost like Insta knew I needed a way to release stored stress before I even realized it (but that’s a discussion for another day). Naturally, I wanted to dive deeper. But every ad or story led me to a paid program, and I wasn’t convinced just yet. So, I turned to AI and decided to make it my somatic yoga coach. And you know what? It worked. Here’s how: 1. The What: I kicked things off by having a conversation with AI to get a solid understanding of what somatic yoga is all about. 2. The Why: Next, I shared a bit about myself—my needs, my goals, and my learning styles. I asked AI why this practice might be valuable for me and made sure it remembered these details to help build my personalized learning plan. 3. The How: Then, I asked it to curate top-tier learning resources for me. AI delivered an excellent set of YouTube channels, online associations, and more. 4. The Result: I followed the plan, dove into the resources, and now I’m practicing somatic yoga daily—all with free resources. I won’t go on too long, but here’s the thing: this experience shows just how much access we now have to education and resources on anything we want to learn. It’s shifting the way we approach general and personalized education, making it more accessible and tailored than ever before. What about you? Anyone else using AI for learning? How’s it working for you? #AI #LearningJourney #PersonalizedEducation #SomaticYoga #Innovation #AIinEducation #ContinuousLearning #DigitalTransformation #Wellness #artificialtechnolgy #artificialintelligence #personalgrowth #learninganddevelopment #aicoach #humanrespurces #learningtechnology #educationaltechnology #edtech

Ever catch yourself more in concert mode than learning and focus mode when your playlist hits just right? I can't help but belt out a tune (and maybe even throw in a dance move or two)! But, personally, when it's time for focus, lyrics can be a little less helpful. Whether it's winding down or revving up my mental engine, there's a frequency for that. My go-to? The soothing vibes of 963Hz—hello, relaxation and healing! But, that's not the secret solution for learning, memory and focus? So which frequency can help us/our learners best? 🔬 Cue the Beats: Enter the world of binaural beats, where two slightly different frequencies in each ear create a third brain-buzzing tone. About 40 hz is the sweet spot. It's like a secret handshake for your neurons, but you need headphones to get in on the action. 📚 Turn Up the Focus: Dive into Alpha waves (8-14 Hz) to spark creativity or Theta waves (4-7 Hz) to boost memory. Adding these sounds to your personal routine might just make your brain thank you with some next-level efficiency. Check out the one I've included here, and now, think about your learners.... 🤔 Let's Get Creative: How can we make learning catchy using these sound tricks? Are there creative ways to build them into the learning experiences that we design? Is anyone already doing it?
