When my team chose the name Down2Members, I honestly thought we might’ve jinxed ourselves from the start... But little did I know, we actually won first place.. we chose the name down2members because halfway through the competition, 2 of our members dropped out saying that the commitment level was too high, thus i would like to put out a message that perserverance will eventually lead to success! Participating in the Youth Sustainability Champion program was a transformative experience. I had the privilege of working under the guidance of incredible mentors like WILLIE TAY and Zakiyah Zainal who shared invaluable insights and encouraged me every step of the way. Their support helped me grow not just as a competitor, but as a learner and leader. I would also like to thank the FabLab Singapore and Science Centre Singapore for supporting us throughout the valuable weeks in spent learning. i would also like to give thanks to my teammates sreejani and kai jun for accompanying me throughout this journey Here’s what I took away from this amazing journey: ✨ New Skills: I learned 3D modeling and explored materials like TPU and PLA, broadening my technical knowledge. I also dived into design thinking and user experience, gaining tools to innovate more effectively. ✨ Sharpened Strengths: I refined key skills like teamwork, problem solving, and adaptability, skills that were put to the test in every challenge we faced. ✨ Gratitude: I couldn’t have done it without my team and mentors, whose guidance was instrumental in helping us clinch Gold in the senior category. This experience showed me that even the most unexpected beginnings (or team names!) can lead to incredible outcomes. Grateful for this journey and the lessons that will shape my future endeavors! #Sustainability #YouthLeadership #GoldWinners
