Today’s Manufacturing Dive article highlights the growing demand for advanced technical skills in manufacturing. Our industry faces challenges from rapid technological advancement, difficulties in attracting and retaining talent, and a widening skills gap that threatens both growth and innovation. The good news is that the MI already has a solution – FAME USA. FAME is specifically designed to tackle the challenges facing today’s modern manufacturing industry. By equipping students with technical skills, professional behaviors and a lean mindset, they are ready to step into modern manufacturing facilities. FAME’s Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program is intentionally designed to prepare students for highly technical roles in advanced manufacturing. Using an “Earn and Learn” model, students receive hands-on training while pursuing their education. This pathway helps fill the growing demand in manufacturing, creating a direct link between education and industry. FAME is key to ensuring every company has access to the talent they need by equipping the future workforce with tools to succeed in our growing industry. Read More: https://lnkd.in/dKCxH3AY

Greenville Technical College is looking to get ahead of the manufacturing and AI curve with a new center to train students for future high-tech assembly lines. However, the role of digital skills in frontline manufacturing jobs remains unclear. While Greenville Tech has likely identified an emerging trend, a solid understanding of the current and anticipated needs of local employers will be crucial to ensuring that the investment pays off. In this week’s The Job by Paul Fain, Gardner Carrick, the Manufacturing Institute’s Chief Program Officer, highlights the importance of aligning programs with industry demands, saying “Community colleges shouldn’t take those risks without knowing that they have big customers telling them that this is the way things are going.” The MI encourages a “team sport model” where manufacturers work together to build close ties with the local community college. A model utilized with our initiative FAME USA. Carrick elaborates, “Ideally, these are operational partnerships, with a focus on experiential learning. Through internships and apprenticeships, community college students get a firsthand view of what skills are needed on the assembly line, and they can bring that intel back to campus.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYa8Kjjn #manufacturing #manufacturingworkforce #ai #manufacturinginstitute
