The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW)
Non-profit Organizations
Serving Youth, Community and Nation
About us
Be a MOWW Companion! We're recruiting Active Duty, retired & former Reserve & Guard commissioned & warrant officers and senior enlisted (E-7, E-8, E-9) of the US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Air Force, US Coast Guard, US Public Health Service & the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Military Order of the World Wars’ (MOWW) founding resulted from General of the Armies John J. Pershing’s request that his officers continue serving America after their active military service ended following World War I. Since MOWW was established in 1919, MOWW members ("Companions") have lived by the Military Order's motto, “It is nobler to serve than to be served.” MOWW serves America’s youth by hosting Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) programs throughout the United States—at no cost to high school students attending. These students receive patriotic education on leadership in a free society, free enterprise system concepts, principles of democracy, the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and civic responsibilities associated with preserving American rights and freedoms. Students also develop speaking, writing and leadership skills which help them be better citizens and future leaders. MOWW’s YLC curriculum is annually accredited by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). MOWW also sponsors awards programs for Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior ROTC cadets (JROTC) , the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the Girl Scouts of the USA (GS-USA). Additionally, MOWW formally honors those who excel in the national security, homeland security, and law and order arenas. Finally, MOWW hosts “Massing of Colors” ceremonies in conjunction with Flag Day, the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

MOWW is honored to lead a Massing of the Colors at the Wreaths Across America Annual Dinner and Appreciation Rally in Washington, D.C., on December 13, 2024. This special evening, held on the eve of National Wreaths Across America Day, celebrates unity, remembrance, and gratitude.
Steeped in military tradition and honor, the Massing of the Colors is a colorful, patriotic and educational ceremony performed by the The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) to “rededicate our faith in the United States, and to present our support to the National Colors and the Servicemen and Servicewomen those Colors represent.” Wreaths Across America is proud to host the MOWW and showcase the Massing of the Colors during the Annual Dinner and Appreciation Rally held in Washington D.C. on December 13, 2024, the eve of National Wreaths Across America Day. https://lnkd.in/gBudb9tK

The MOWW Hampton Roads Chapter, along with Military Scholars Youth Development Services, hosted a JROTC Drill Competition on 10/26 at Christopher Newport University in VA. The competition included inspecting military uniform, drill capabilities and administrative knowledge of all services. ⭐ Nine schools not only showcased their skills, but also collected 893 lbs of food—enough to provide 744 meals for those in need. A huge thank you to all of the cadets, military volunteers, Langley AFB Honor Guard, and Coast Guard & Air Force Drill Teams for making this event a success! #JROTC #MOWW #CommunityImpact
