Ever spoken to someone who has travelled through time?? My wife and I were lucky enough to get a break last week (no kids for the first time for more than one night in 21 years!) On the plane I watched “About Time” - a rom com about a chap who can travel back in time to certain moments to live them again as he wishes. One line caught my attention - he realised he didn’t need to keep popping back and altering little things. He said “Just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day to enjoy it as if it was the full, final day of my extraordinary ordinary life” And that got me. Maybe we all should live like this, everyday. Embrace the rain, sun, moody checkout girl, guy that cut us up in traffic and accept it without malice, dislike or hatered. When was the last time you lived like this? (Whilst we were away we were lucky enough to see the sunset and rise over the Atlas Mountain range - something that will stay with me forever.)

“Remember to work harder on yourself than you do on your job” If you work for someone (employed) or work for yourself (self employed) you will be paid what you’re worth - fact. For example, if you work as a hospital cleaner you maybe the best cleaner in the world - but how replaceable are you? Your wage will reflect this. If you’re a brain surgeon you will be paid a higher amount due to the level of skill - how replaceable are you then? Your wage will reflect this. Now this doesn’t detract from either role, both are very important functions of a hospital - however, one has chosen to work harder on him/her self in order to progress. Therefore it makes sense to ensure that you take time to enhance YOU, to make YOU better than you were yesterday (progress) to move YOU into a position where you can be paid more for the SERVICE you provide. How do you deal with bad news? My mantra for the longest time has been “It is what it is, take the good out of it and forgive/forget the rest”. Why? Well if it’s already happened, then “it is what it is” unless you own a time machine, what ever “it” is can’t be changed. Take the good out it - always look for the silver lining (as my Nan used to say), find the positive in EVERY situation. And then forgive/forget the rest. I often get told - “I’m too busy to work with you” Ironic isn’t it? I help busy people be more productive and be less busy 🤣 Being busy is great, isn’t it? Doesn’t it give us a sense that we “must” be doing the right things? But being busy and unproductive, well that’s a different fish 🐟 An old mentor of mine used to say “a busy fool will convince himself he is winning” Still true. I work with my clients to find the right type of busy. Busy spending time with loved ones ❤️ Busy spending time doing the things you love ❤️ Busy spending time on yourself (and not feeling guilt about it!) ❤️ Having FOCUS is the key - focusing on what want makes you productive doesn’t mean you have to be busy to achieve it. How often have you had time to sit back and evaluate, I mean really evaluate? Not just one of those exercises that you convince yourself will change you forever and then forget you’ve even done it 10 minutes later? My clients come to me for one hour sessions every two weeks. This gives them space to think, talk, share, be held accountable. Just 60 minutes every two weeks - we all have 168 hours per week, minus (let’s say 56 for sleep) that gives you 112 hours per week for everything else.
