Engaging in workplace romance with "job-related motivations" is crazy work
The Lone Star State is about to get an influx of finance bros. The New York Stock Exchange announced this week that one of its fully electronic outposts, NYSE Chicago, is reincorporating in Texas, and will now go by—you guessed it—NYSE Texas. "As the state with the largest number of NYSE listings, representing over $3.7 trillion in market value for our community, Texas is a market leader in fostering a pro-business atmosphere," wrote NYSE Group President Lynn Martin. But it’s not just opportunities bringing the NYSE to Texas—it’s competition: A group from BlackRock and Citadel plan to start their own Dallas-based exchange next year. Dubbed the Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE), they've raised $161 million and just two weeks ago filed with the SEC to launch in early 2026. For Texas, the economic boom extends beyond ticker symbols. Gov. Greg Abbott has been marketing the state as an alternative to Delaware as the top legal home base for corporations. So far, it seems to be working: Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX reincorporated in Texas last year, and Meta is reportedly considering doing the same.

Even HR wants salary transparency
This week, a federal judge in Boston ruled in favor of the Trump administration’s deferred resignation plan for federal employees, allowing the program to proceed. The ruling, issued by US District Judge George O’Toole, determined that federal employee unions lacked the legal standing to challenge the program. This decision reverses a temporary restraining order that had previously halted the initiative, marking a significant legal victory for the Trump administration in its efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce. The buyout program led to approximately 75,000 federal employees accepting the offer, which allows them to resign while receiving payments until the end of September. However, unions and workers criticized the administration for providing inconsistent and confusing details about the plan. The White House aimed for 5-10% of federal employees to leave, and Trump has taken further steps to prepare for additional layoffs. Despite the court ruling, union leaders vowed to continue fighting for federal workers, emphasizing that the decision did not determine the legality of the program itself. 📸: Getty
