New Glarus Hotel

Heritage Consulting Group Project Manager Claire Bushemi (second photo, standing on right) presented the New Glarus Hotel at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Review Board meeting on February 21. The board unanimously approved the National Register Nomination for the hotel. Tony Zgraggen (in hat), long-time resident of New Glarus, also yodeled for all present at the meeting. The New Glarus Hotel has been a community landmark since its opening 172 years ago. The rehabilitation project led by New Glarus HCG, LLC, is applying for state and federal historic tax credits. We’re excited to announce that our historic renovation is in full swing, and the beloved sunken bar and restaurant will now be known as "The Yodel Room." The Yodel Room will celebrate Swiss culture with a menu that blends classic Alpine dishes and Wisconsin supper club favorites, offering what we think is the best of both worlds. Inspired by the rich yodeling tradition that started here in the 1960s and continued on, The Yodel Room is dedicated to preserving it's heritage while adding a modern twist.
