"In the exercises in part TWO you created the future you want. The vision you created should be the input to create your new beliefs. Look at the future you designed for yourself. The what-if scenarios predicting what would happen if you keep drinking. Or your WHY, the ultimate reason why you want to change. And finally, your goal, not to drink alcohol for the number of months you have chosen. Here are a few example empowering beliefs as inspiration: * Not drinking alcohol is good for my health. * I will save enough money to go skiing every year when I don’t drink. * Staying away from alcohol makes me set a good example for my kids. * I have more energy and focus when I don’t drink. One of the things than can help you make the change is having a role model. You can use this role model as someone who you look up to. Someone you admire because they have qualities and accomplishments you find inspiring. For me as an aspiring writer at the time, Stephen King, was a perfect role model. I know he is a novelist, and this is a non-fiction book, but still a lot of principles are the same. So, I bought his book ‘On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft’. This helped me understand his way of working and the habits around it. One of the things I recall is the habit of writing every day. Every day in the same place, at the same time. For you a role model could be someone you know personally. Or a public figure. They show you how to live the life you want by their actions and behavior. When you know someone like this, you can think of asking this person to be your mentor during your change. We will get to that later. But of course, it can also be someone famous in a world that is aligned with yours. A TV host, an actor, or an influencer. When these people are very visible, you can follow what they are doing to be inspired and follow through. Keep in mind that you are doing this for inspirational purposes. Be careful not to copy everything they do. Or even wanting to become them. Stay yourself and stick to your own chosen new identity.
