About us
Our mission is to make our seas and oceans more sustainable by creating a huge and reliable supply of oysters. As well as supplying a valuable food source, our efforts will not only restore the native oyster and associated ecosystems through restoration, but also seek to drastically help decarbonisation. We aim to help companies achieve their net zero sustainability goals, a million oysters at a time.

We are thrilled to have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, with leading industry organisations, Roslin Institute, Xelect Ltd and Native Aqua, to develop disease-resistant oyster strains that will support sustainable aquaculture and marine ecosystem restoration. With European native oyster populations at less than 5% of their historical levels due to overharvesting, pollution, and disease, this collaboration is a crucial step forward for ocean health. By combining our restoration expertise with advanced genetic research, sustainable farming practices, and groundbreaking technology, this collaboration aims to tackle the devastating impact of Bonamia ostreae, a lethal parasite that has severely hindered the recovery of European native flat oysters, and produce resilient oyster strains that thrive in wild and farmed environments alike. Our aim is to set a new benchmark for marine conservation and with research beginning in January 2025, we can’t wait to share our progress toward restoring oyster populations. #MarineConservation #OysterRestoration Roslin Institute, Xelect Ltd

We don't know about you, but we love this quote! "The world is your oyster" reminds us that you really can do anything! While this isn't a European native, it still symbolises the incredible impact they have on our planet. We're proud to say that here at The Oyster Restoration Company, we're helping to restore YOUR world one shell at a time 🌍🦪
