About us
The Parasol Cooperative is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that provides innovative technology solutions to support survivors and advocates of gender-based violence, domestic violence and human trafficking. Additionally, we serve as a central hub for education, research, and funding, empowering individuals and Victim Service Organizations to safely protect lives through technology. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have three programs that each tackle a unique challenge in the fight for enablement and empowerment. 1) SafeConnect – As survivors, advocates and technologists, we empathize with the challenges surrounding scheduling, database management, privacy, reporting, and more, and are committed to simplifying and reimagining these processes with you in SafeConnect. The apps simplify how victim services providers and organizations support and deliver more efficient and discreet care and resources to survivors, all while saving valuable time for advocates. It also reimagines how survivors request services safely from the organizations that are helping them. 2) Technology and Online Exploitability Safeguards (TOES) - As an education and research arm, TOES helps everyday consumers protect themselves and their loved ones by producing and distributing educational materials. We also collaborate with technology product development companies to establish ethical guidelines to prioritize safety-first in their technology products. 3) Technology Enhancement Fund - This program was created to close a gap for funding technology operational expenses for non-profit victim services providers and organizations. It is a grant making program to help offset annual technology expenses.

Two 4th grade boys expelled for the same reason.. both exposed to porn at home. Nearly half of middle schoolers say it’s easy to find inappropriate material while doing homework, and exposure to explicit content is a factor in every case of child-on-child harm. It’s difficult to surprise me. At Protect Young Eyes, I’ve heard almost everything when it comes to how humans use technology. But these stories in the panels hurt. After my talk at the National Catholic Educators Association, two principals came to my booth and told me the exact same story. 2 young boys. Both were expelled. Both for the same reason. The panels below tell the rest of the tragic story. Some of you might say the parents should have done more. I didn’t ask. Instead, I could see the pain in the eyes of these principals, because both of them recognize the evil at work here, and it’s robbing their young, amazing students of their young, amazing childhoods (BTW - they had to expel them before they uncovered more of the situation and what was happening at home). PYE surveyed 407 students in grades 6-8 at an average, rural middle school and 46% of them said that “it’s easy to find inappropriate content while doing homework.” I interviewed interventionists at my local Children's Assessment Center. In 100% of their cases where a young child was sexually abusing another child, the child performing the abuse had been exposed to pornography.
