Nigel Hyde Retires as Chair of Governors at The Roseland Trust   The Roseland Trust has announced the retirement of Chair of Governors, Nigel Hyde. Throughout his tenure, Nigel has been a dedicated advocate of The Roseland Trust, focusing on the importance of education and safety for young people and leaving an enduring legacy of community engagement and safeguarding. Nigel first entered governance after retiring from Devon and Cornwall Police, where he spent 30 years. In the last 7 years of his police career he became a Police Youth Intervention officer supporting young people at risk or involved in offending. Bringing his extensive expertise in safeguarding and behaviour management, Nigel held influential governance roles across several trusts before joining The Roseland Multi Academy Trust in 2009. In this role, he championed accountability and support across the Trust, ensuring its schools provided a safe, nurturing environment for students and their families. Chris Challis, CEO of The Roseland Trust, praised Nigel’s commitment to the Trust’s mission: “Nigel’s dedication to our communities and schools has been a guiding force, ensuring that our priorities stay clear through his unwavering support and challenge for our students and staff. Nigel’s passion, integrity, and commitment have left an indelible mark on our Trust and the families we serve. Nigel has always cared deeply for the staff, students and communities that The Roseland Trust serves. His passion for ensuring an environment that enables both students and staff to thrive has always been at the core of his work.” Reflecting on Nigel’s retirement, Lisa Michell, Trustee, who has now been appointed as Chair of the Board, expressed her gratitude: "I have a hard act to follow in stepping into Nigel's shoes! We have been incredibly fortunate to have him as our Chair. His boundless dedication and passion for the education and wellbeing of our young people have set a remarkable standard. Nigel will be greatly missed, but we are committed to carrying forward his vision and legacy." As the new Chair, Lisa added: “I feel incredibly privileged to lead The Roseland Multi Academy Trust. With over twenty-five years in education, I am committed to ensuring each young person within our schools receives the best possible opportunities.
