About us
Navigating the world with cancer takes a physical, emotional, and financial toll. Treatment costs are expensive. Combining those costs with college-related expenses leaves most teens battling cancer with hard decisions to postpone or forgo a college education. Education is key to long-term success, yet out of reach for many financially devastated young cancer patients. The Ruth Cheatham Foundation (TRCF) supports survivors to ensure access to higher education and completion of a degree. TRCF bridges the educational opportunity gap and provides the gateway to economic opportunity and a higher quality of life for young cancer survivors.

Celebrating the resilience and achievements of our TRCF scholars! This year, TRCF proudly awarded scholarships to 260 teen cancer scholars across 44 states, totaling $779,500. Despite facing unimaginable challenges, these remarkable individuals achieve a 94% graduation rate—31% above the national average! Our scholars, who have spent an average of 20.7 months in active cancer treatment, continue to navigate school, work, and personal lives amidst ongoing medical challenges. With 30% being first-generation college students, these scholarships are not just transforming their futures but uplifting entire families and communities. Together, we're making a profound impact.
