Check out this CTV ad I edited for Punk Bunny Coffee ☕️ I've been a Green Day fan since I was a kid - blowing my eardrums out to American Idiot from my ipod on the 5th grade bus 🤣 In one of my middle school music classes we had to edit together a bunch of our favorite songs and I chopped up a bunch of Green Day tracks for my project. This early audio editing project contributed to piquing my interest in what would later be video editing, so being able to edit an ad for their coffee company was a surreal and full-circle moment for me. I provided the concepting and post-production services to bring this ad to life. The edit included the brand's footage and imagery, background music, motion graphics and on-screen text to tie it all together ⏯️ I knew I wanted to double down on the punk-rock feel so I added grungy light leak and glitch transitions/effects and kept the pacing very quick 🤘 We created a handful of variations of this ad, but this was one of my favorites! I now have a couple bags of their coffee on my office shelf and it's a reminder of how cool of a journey The Storyboarder has been for me and the unique experiences it's been able to bring. Next up on tips and tricks is, ‘U’ UGC! ⁠👩🏻🏫 User Generated Content, or UGC, has been one of the most popular styles of video content taking over the internet! What was once seen as being a "scrappy" way of making video ads, is now something that has become sought after from brands big and small ⏯️ UGC videos are when an actual customer or an influencer records clips of them interacting with the product. This could be in the form of an unboxing, review, first impressions, or other creative ways of spotlighting the product. While some UGC creators will edit their own videos, hiring a professional editor can really open up the possibilities 🤳 I have edited dozens of UGC videos over the years. Some effective ways to leverage your existing UGC library into a more polished and professional end product is to create a "mashup" style video. This is where you edit together various creator's clips into a single ad. This is an effective way to help show "social proof" to your audience. The more you can make your viewer feel "everyone is doing/using this product", the more likely they will to want to feel included 🌟 You can also mix in UGC clips into other styles of professional ads. For example, in the recent Floof - Amazon Video I shared, I incorporated some of the brand's UGC videos alongside motion graphics, animations and professionally shot product footage/images. Using a mix of different media like this can create a unique ad that still feels relatable 🎛️ Lastly, hiring a professional to review and edit your existing UGC videos can help you get more life out of these pre-existing assets.
