At each event, we invite a few folks to come along and share their stories of building a business in the Shopify Partner ecosystem — not just the good but also the bad and often the downright messy.
With a no-slide policy and talks of 20 minutes or less, our presentations are more akin to an informal chat than a traditional conference talk.
Here's who has kindly agreed to join us at our NYC and Toronto events:
🇺🇸 𝗡𝗬𝗖
Galen King will join us to share candid learnings from his 24-year journey from freelance designer to design and development studio to Shopify Plus agency in two countries and back to soloist in Vermont.
Arianne Foulks will discuss her foolproof method for keeping client projects in scope and on schedule, ensuring projects don't turn into never-ending, trust-eroding endeavours!
Ross Beyeler will reveal many of the mistakes he's made (and some of the things that worked) in scaling ecommerce agency Trellis to eight figures in revenue.
🇨🇦 𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗢
Jess Chan will discuss how she believes "Every Business Problem Is A You Problem" and will open up about a number of key realisations from her own entrepreneurial journey.
Blair Beckwith will open up about what happened after he left his first proper job at Canada's biggest tech unicorn and how, after a few twists and turns, he's finally come home to the place where it all began!
Trudy MacNabb will share how the lessons she learned from running her agency helped her transition to building, running and growing a successful product company.
Presentations are just one part of the day. You can learn more about what we get up to at our events here: https://lnkd.in/eSpGgHCu

Our goal is to make Craft+Work events an essential day on the annual calendar for soloists, founders, and leaders working in the 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.
We know it will take time, hard work, and a certain amount of convincing people to give it a try — but we'll get there.
To help us on our mission Craig Cooper compiled a two-minute "Reflections Reel" video that captures the energy, learning, and community spirit that defined our second London event back in May. Give it a watch and get a flavour of what you can expect at a Craft+Work event.

Building a Shopify app might come easy, but running a successful Shopify app business certainly doesn't.
It's not uncommon to hear that customer support is one of the most significant pain points in growing a Shopify app business. That's where The Support Heroes come in!
In the second of my Craft+Work "Patrons Perspectives" interviews, I speak with Laura Isabel Moreno, CEO of The Support Heroes.
Laura and her team have built a highly niche business providing top-level customer support services to Shopify app developers worldwide, allowing them to focus on improving and developing their applications safe in the knowledge that their customers are being well cared for.

If you're attending our upcoming NYC event on Monday 16th, September, be sure to chat about how they can help scale your Shopify app business by providing 24/7 Tier 1 support.

Craft+Work events delve into what I like to call the "messiness" of building a business in the Shopify ecosystem.
We get together and share what’s working, what’s not and discuss where we are heading. We learn from each other and take inspiration from established companies who have paved the way.
I’m fortunate to have a number of these great companies support our events and help make them possible. In the spirit of sharing founders and leaders from these companies have taken part in a new series called “Patrons Perspectives”.
In each interview we learn more about their products and services and ask them what’s working, what’s not, and what’s on their roadmaps.
First up is Sam Henning, co-founder of Grapevine Post Purchase Surveys.

Thanks again to Grapevine for supporting the Craft+Work events in London, NYC, and Toronto in 2024!

What do you call an event that's somewhere between a conference, a workshop, an informal get-together and a very large roundtable discussion?
There's no punchline other than I call it Craft+Work.
That's the name of the small (only 50 places) event I run and host for Shopify-focused professionals, including agency owners, app company founders, consultants, soloists and tech partners.
It's a day of conversations about the messiness of building a business in the Shopify ecosystem. Topics covered range from people and pricing to product and partnerships (with a few other P's thrown in for good measure).
Both UK editions have sold out and proved there's an appetite for getting together to share stories and learn from each other.
If this sounds like your kind of event, then why not join me in NYC or Toronto in September? There are a few tickets left for each event.
PS: I know I'm late to the game, but I've done my first-ever LinkedIn carousel! Make my day and give it a click-through!

Craft+Work is coming to North America in September!
🇺🇸 𝗡𝗬𝗖 — Monday 16th September: https://lnkd.in/eUE-5zMX
🇨🇦 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼 — Friday 20th September: https://lnkd.in/ejie_dAm
These intimate events (max 50 people) bring together soloists, founders and leaders from the Shopify Partner ecosystem to share stories, hear honest business reflections, and gain new perspectives.
These events will enable you to connect with like-minded people, learn from each other and prove that there is no right way to build and grow your Shopify-focused business.
Interested? Here's a flavour of what's happening:
✅ 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — Over the course of the day, you’ll hear from invited guests who have agreed to share their stories, insights, and lessons from their own entrepreneurial journeys. Sessions focus on agency life, marketing, career progression, work culture and personal growth. All slide free and delivered in 20 minutes or less.
✅ 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 — An opportunity to hop on a stool and dig into a challenge you are facing with your host (that’s me) and get feedback from the group. Don’t worry, it’s really not that scary. These have been a highlight at all our UK events, so we’ve made more time for them in the schedule.
✅ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — New for 2024. Designed to get you and a small group of fellow attendees to answer some rather esoteric business-related questions and challenges.
✅ 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — We'll dig into the topics that are affecting your business and professional development and see where it takes us. It's a great opportunity to share your own ideas and experiences and learn from others.
🎟️ Tickets include breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day!
