This year, I have been named one of the “Top Lawyers in Northern Virginia 2024” by Northern Virginia Magazine. This recognition is based on a peer-nominated survey where lawyers across Northern Virginia and D.C. recommend attorneys they trust to handle important cases or refer to their own family and friends. It’s an honor to be included among such accomplished legal professionals. Being part of this list reflects the trust my clients and colleagues place in me and my commitment to my work. You can view the full list in the December 2024 issue of Northern Virginia Magazine or online at: https://lnkd.in/epcjfTuK. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and placed their confidence in my work!

Overjoyed to join the distinguished faculty of the Virginia State Bar’s Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course, with my term commencing in October 2024. Serving on this esteemed faculty is an incredible opportunity to give back to the legal community, ensuring that the next generation of attorneys upholds the highest standards of our profession. It was also fantastic to see so many familiar faces from the Old Dominion Bar Association at the faculty training! I'm honored to work alongside such esteemed judges, attorneys, and friends committed to this mission, and I look forward to making a meaningful impact with this dedicated group

I am honored to have been elected to serve as Vice-President of the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys' Association (NOVABAA) for the next two-year term. I’m excited to support the movement led by our President-Elect, Andrew Clarke, and work alongside Secretary Madison Gibbs and Treasurer David Hagan. It’s a privilege to stand with such dedicated leaders who are shaping the future of our legal community.

Do you see yourself as a leader? We all have leadership potential within us, but sometimes we fall into traps that stop us from unlocking it. This month’s virtual lunch series featured Jacqueline M. Baker, whom I first met as a guest on her podcast Just Start: From Ideas to Action. Jacqueline is passionate about helping others embrace their inner leader, and she joined us to discuss "Escaping The Leadership Traps." One of the biggest takeaways was recognizing how often we stop ourselves from growing due to ego management issues and waiting too long to see ourselves as leaders. Jacqueline reminded us that leadership isn’t about titles or positions—it’s about the choices we make, how we respond to change, and how we lead with authenticity. She also emphasized the importance of managing our egos. When left unchecked, ego can stunt our growth and derail our leadership journey. Jacqueline challenged us to make the tough decisions, knowing that true leadership comes from action and contribution. We walked away with practical steps, like learning to listen more effectively and embracing different leadership styles to adapt to various situations. I’m incredibly grateful to Jacqueline for sharing her wisdom and providing us with such actionable insights. Thank you, Jacqueline, for inspiring us to take that first step.
