About us
The Who I Am Foundation, Inc. was established as a not-for-profit organization in February 2021, with the objective of helping those unable to share their life story with those caring for them. Alzheimer's, Dementia, Nonverbal Healthcare Patients, Special Needs children and adults all need help communicating with those around them. We can help. In just a little over two years, by the end of 2023, they had distributed over 7,500 kits to individuals in various healthcare facilities. These kits were provided free of charge and benefited not only nonverbal patients but also memory care residents, individuals with Alzheimer's and Dementia, and special needs children and adults facing communication challenges. The foundation's mission revolves around personalizing the experience of individuals in different healthcare settings. They achieve this by sharing the person's life story with anyone who enters their room to provide care. This approach helps establish a deeper connection between caregivers and patients, allowing for a more compassionate and person-centered approach to healthcare. In 2022, The Who I Am Foundation expanded its efforts and developed free tools specifically tailored to assist children entering the foster care system. These tools enable these children to effectively communicate their preferences, dislikes, and personal stories to their foster parents, enhancing the understanding and support they receive during this transitional period.
