  • It was our privilege to support such a great cause!

  • The Wiggins Law Group would like to congratulate Michael Wiggins and Trevor Shaw, Esq. on their recent win in the Circuit Court for Prince George's County! The Plaintiffs alleged that our client, a local urologist, breached the standard of care by failing to recognize that the patient’s kidney was non-functional and that the patient was suffering from a bleeding pseudoaneurysm. They argued that our client should have removed the kidney and that as a result of the failure to do so, the kidney became infected, and the patient developed septic shock. The patient ultimately went into cardiac arrest, which Plaintiffs argued was caused by the kidney bleed and infection. The cardiac arrest resulted in an anoxic brain injury, rendering the patient severely debilitated, immobile, and trach dependent. She survived for 3 years in a vegetative state before passing away. Plaintiffs sought damages of $1.8 million. Congrats to Mike, Trevor, and Team on another great win! The attorneys at The Wiggins Law Group are always committed to providing thorough, proactive, and highly skilled representation to secure favorable outcomes for our clients.

  • Congratulations to Michael Wiggins and Trevor Shaw, Esq. on their recent defense verdict in the Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland! Mike and Trevor successfully defended a local general surgeon against allegations that the surgeon injured the Plaintiff's ureter during a sigmoid colon resection necessitated by a perforated diverticula. The Plaintiff asserted that the surgeon failed to recognize the injury both intraoperatively and postoperatively, which resulted in a stent placement and ultimate loss of a kidney. The damages sought were in excess of $1 million dollars. Jury deliberations lasted for approximately one hour before the jury returned a verdict in favor of our client. Great job to Mike, Trevor, and their team on another win!

  • The Wiggins Law Group would like to recognize Michael Wiggins, Dana Schultz, and Trevor Shaw, Esq. on their recent defense verdicts. Mike and Dana successfully defended a neurosurgical PA-C in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland in a case where Plaintiffs sought damages in excess of $2.3 million dollars. The Plaintiffs alleged that the PA-C negligently discharged the patient without a vascular consult following a laminectomy despite lower extremity discoloration and arterial and venous insufficiency. As a result of this alleged negligence, the Plaintiffs claimed that the patient subsequently had to undergo a right above the knee amputation and a left below the knee amputation. Through their strong and decisive advocacy, Mike and Dana were able to establish that our client complied with the standard of care and after more than two weeks of trial, the jury returned a verdict in her favor. Several weeks later, Mike and Trevor successfully defended a local radiologist and his practice group in a wrongful death action in the Circuit Court for Carroll County, Maryland. The case involved a 19-year old female patient who presented to the hospital with complaints of lower extremity pain and swelling. Claiming in excess of $1 million dollars in damages, the Plaintiffs alleged that the radiologist failed to recognize and report concern for a DVT based upon findings on an ultrasound and that he breached the standard of care by failing to order a repeat imaging study given the poor quality of the images. As a result of the alleged negligence, Plaintiffs claimed that the patient suffered a massive pulmonary embolism and did not survive. Despite the complicated and extremely sympathetic nature of this case, Mike and Trevor effectively established, through expert witness testimony, demonstratives, and the use of radiologic software, that our client's interpretation of the ultrasound complied with the standard of care. After deliberating for less than two hours, the jury agreed and returned a verdict for the defense. Congratulations to Mike, Dana, Trevor, and Team on their recent wins! These verdicts are just one example of how committed the attorneys at The Wiggins Law Group are to providing their clients with exceptional, highly skilled representation.

  • Congratulations to Michael Wiggins and Trevor Shaw, Esq. who secured a defense verdict in the the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County, Maryland in a technically challenging case where Plaintiffs sought $2.0 million in damages. At trial, Mike and Trevor successfully defended a local radiologist and large radiology practice group against claims that the Defendant negligently interpreted an abdominal CT scan. The Plaintiffs argued that as a result of the Defendant's negligence, a large appendiceal cancer was missed, resulting in the death of a 52 year old man. Through expert testimony and the skillful use of demonstratives and radiologic software, Mike and Trevor effectively demonstrated to the jury that the radiologist's interpretation of the CT was reasonable, appropriate, and complied with the standard of care. The jury agreed and returned a verdict in favor of the defense. The trial attorneys at The Wiggins Law Group are committed to providing highly skilled, thorough, and proactive representation to secure favorable outcomes for our clients.
