What a day yesterday...It reminded me how important acts of kindness with a portion of gratitude are important in life 👇 I stopped by one of the facilities to visit a client yesterday and on the way out I saw an old lady struggling to put her son’s wheelchair back in the van. I was passing by and she asked me to help, and even though that I was in rush, I made a decision to stop and assist her. After 30-40 minutes we ended up being able to put it back in while in the meantime she was telling me her son's story and how he got to this point being in a wheelchair for 28 years. The story shuck me... Her son was driving on a highway in NJ (where I lived before), and after a while he unfortunately lost control of his steering wheel, drove off the road and hit a tree. Luckily, he survived, however he ended up getting a lung and brain damage / injury which resulted in him having issues breathing, eating, walking and use of his hands. It's been 28 years since he got into that accident. He's 51 now. His mom has been there for him for almost 3 decades, having to have to move him around to many different hospitals, care centers...ALL BY HERSELF... while trying to stay positive and optimistic about tomorrow. After her telling me that story, I immediately went up to her and gave her a hug. I made sure to give her some words of encouragement and thank her for doing what she was doing. I thank her even though that it had nothing to do with me, but because of the lessons that I took out of that interaction. A lot of times we tend to stress over things that are not really that big of a deal, however we make it seem as a big deal so it becomes one. While doing so we push away all the people that want good for us without even realizing. How about we start our days and remind ourselves of things we're grateful for. When we're filled with gratitude, there's no stress. Hope this resonates with some of you. Have a blessed day and week. 2025 looks so bright!
