  • Donald Trump made history as he emerged victorious in the 2024 presidential election against Kamala Harris. This election marks him as one of only two U.S. presidents to take nonconsecutive turns in office. Republican strategist Vivek Ramaswamy hailed this moment as the resurgence of American confidence and spirit. In an interview, Ramaswamy explained that Trump's success is more about the resurgence of American values and self-assurance than just political gain. He believes that this resurgent nationalism is crucial for bringing about significant reforms in border security and economic development. As markets welcome this change, the nation is on the verge of transformation. • The EuroLeague match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Virtus Bologna ended peacefully as Bologna left Tel Aviv 84-77. The game was played under increased security following several violent incidents involving Israeli teams, particularly following clashes in Amsterdam. Israeli security recommended fans stay indoors and eliminate all paraphernalia bearing Israeli symbols to ensure maximum safety. The anticipatory measures did not help anything as the game went on without a hitch, and a lot of people could breathe easy. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, condemning the anti-Semitic feelings that have recently emerged, says that the government remains strong in protecting communities. Sport unites not divides. • The UAE, while cooperating with the World Health Organization, continues to show dedication to providing desperately needed emergency medical care for the Palestinians. A very powerful exercise in solidarity was felt as 86 critically injured Palestinians, among whom included young children and cancer patients, were evacuated from Gaza for the most basic medical care given in the UAE. This is the 22nd flight of the UAE's humanitarian mission that has seen over 2,000 patients treated so far. The program falls under the efforts by the UAE to treat 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients just as instructed by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In Gaza, tens of thousands have already been treated at the UAE Field Hospital, and over 43,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered. Yet more can be done to alleviate human suffering: #UAEHumanitarian #PalestinianSupport

  • Power outages have been reported to nearly 70,000 customers in Southern California following precautionary steps adopted by Southern California Edison to forestall the rapidly spreading Mountain Fire in Ventura County. This planned power shutoff is part of the company's Public Safety Power Shutoff plan with an intention of helping prevent wildfires that energized power lines may ignite. With zero containment the Mountain Fire has already burned its way across more than 14,000 acres which has left it a menace with over 14,000 residents under an order to evacuate themselves. Schools are closed off, and emergency services keep battling this fast-moving wildfire. Being volatile in condition, SoCal Edison must also step up and enact further outages affecting customers on another 180,000 people. Residents need information on such critical periods.
