📣 A Challenge to All 49 States: Follow Arizona’s Lead! Arizona made history by becoming the first state in the country to ensure that children’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) benefits go where they truly belong—in a Personal Needs Account for the child. For years, child welfare agencies have been taking these benefits, leaving kids with nothing. But thanks to the tireless work of the Center for the Rights of Abused Children, Arizona has become the first state to end this unfair practice. This isn’t just a reform—it’s a lifeline. For children in foster care who are often penniless and own nothing, this change means they finally have financial security and something of their own. It’s time for the other 49 states to follow Arizona’s lead and give these kids the dignity they deserve. 💖 👉 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3Xdau2Y #ChildWelfare #FosterCareReform #ArizonaLeads #ProtectOurChildren #EveryChildMatters #SSI #RSDI #JusticeForKids

On Monday, November 18, Tyrus will speak live in Phoenix at our benefit for abused children. “When I first got to the foster family," he said, "I was obsessed with trying to change my skin color so I could go back home. If I could be white, I could go home.” Every child has a different story but all share the need to be safe and loved. There are nearly 400,000 children in the foster care system in America. Most states do not provide legal representation to children in foster care. 📌 But when abused children have an attorney, they are 3.5x more likely to exit foster care quickly. This is why the Center for the Rights of Abused Children was created: to provide free legal representation to kids and advocate for their safety through common-sense reforms.

Once children are in the foster care system, the onus is on the state to find the child a permanent home. The American Enterprise Institute analyzed how long that process takes in each state. Important data 👇
