The lives of the children and families we serve are often in flux, with many children in the care of the Children's Division and facing potential changing placements. Sometimes that means their situations might change rapidly, and they may no longer be able to come to The Children's Place for outpatient therapy or our Day Treatment program. These changes are always hard for both the children and our staff, but they are a real part of the work that we do here at The Children's Place. One of our Child & Family Therapists Abby Davis recently summed it up well: "Healing doesn’t always happen in a linear fashion, and we certainly don’t always get to see it to the end," she said. "That doesn’t mean we stop believing in it, though. Sometimes kids have to leave our services before we would wish, and when that happens, we always send well wishes and hope for the best. I think it is important that we are able to offer that to all of our families, for whatever length of time we get to be part of their journey." Thank you to our frontline staff who play such a vital role in these children's healing journeys day in and day out.

A glimpse into play therapy: Not only did this baby doll enjoy her snack after a long day of shopping, but she also got a hand tattoo! In play therapy, toys provide words for young children, so our therapists carefully curate a wide range of toys in their play spaces to ensure children have the words they need to heal. Dolls, in particular, give children the chance to practice being calm, gentle and caring. It's obvious that this baby doll was well cared for during the session, and even got a fun tattoo too!
