New Blog Alert! We are proud to share our most recent blog penned by our Grants Management team: Jenny Herrera (she/her) & Lilia Granillo. Read about their learnings on accelerated grantmaking practices and why it's critical for funders to get beyond crisis funding to sustainable practices that more holistically support grantee partners. Special shout out to Democracy Fund for organizing funders to get resources out early this year through their #AllbyApril campaign. More about that in the blog as well! https://lnkd.in/ezFGadxs
About us
We are committed to supporting organizations led by those most impacted by systemic oppression – largely low-income communities of color. The Libra Foundation’s guiding principle is that those who are closest to the issues understand those issues the best. They are not only the most equipped to build solutions, they are the most effective at implementing those solutions. We focus on frontline organizations led by people of color transforming the criminal justice system and advancing environmental and climate justice and gender justice. @thelibrafound

In it, he makes the case for 5 critical needs and strategies that funders should focus on now as they prepare for the next administration: 🖥️ Prioritize supporting physical safety and #digitalsecurity. 🏛️ Support organizations in bolstering their legal and regulatory compliance. ❤️🩹 Invest in building mental health infrastructure in the #nonprofit sector. 🤔 Think holistically about supporting nonprofit-sector-wide needs. 💡 Be bold, creative and proactive in their grantmaking. In celebration of #TransAwarenessWeek, we're uplifting our grantee partner, the Marsha P. Johnson Institute's virtual art gallery, created to memorialize the work of artists who participated in their Starship Artist Fellowship. Awareness can be dangerous if not accompanied by real support for trans leaders and organizers. So, programs like the Starship Artist Fellowship, which empowers Black trans creatives with the resources to navigate often transphobic art spaces, are incredibly important. 🎨 https://lnkd.in/gTSWUQxX

Authoritarianism relies on isolation and fear. To combat it, we must prioritize community, safety, and strategy. We can make progress in deepening community networks, resourcing underserved groups, and developing innovative strategies to lift our vision for a better world. We’re ready to strategize, fight authoritarianism, and protect our people from harmful policies. Before we look to the future, let's recognize the people-powered wins for voting rights, reproductive freedom, and LGBTQ+ representation at a state level. https://lnkd.in/e5_xzrKD
