All Aboard for this week’s feature highlighting the entrepreneurs and innovators who drive The Platform at Greer. This week, we’re getting on board with Dr. Christy Belcher, the Vet Chat Mobile Veterinarian. ‘Tis the season of giving, and Dr. Belcher has some expert advice to folks who plan to bring a live animal into their family. First and foremost, Dr. Belcher says always go in person to observe any animal you are thinking about adopting or purchasing. Virtual visits do not count. It might seem like a staggering statistic, but Dr. Belcher says on average, households can spend $150,000 to $200,000 on basic care for a pet over the course of its lifetime. That’s a huge investment, and doing your homework can save you a lot of money, time, and heartache. Dr. Belcher says you should check out the animal’s home, its environment, and daily routine. She says watch the feeding, playtime, and interaction with other animals and humans. Make sure the animal has been properly socialized before bringing it into your home to avoid costly training bills. Check out our website to learn more about Dr. Belcher’s mobile services and her innovative role as one of South Carolina’s two forensic veterinarians.

All Aboard for this week’s feature highlighting the entrepreneurs and innovators who are part of The Platform at Greer community. Meet Tom Ostrowski, a recent Bootcamp graduate whose latest venture is called Tech Pet IQ. Tom is an experienced designer and product launcher. He came up with a new product to relieve some of the stress and worry he and his finance were experiencing related to their pets. Smart Bowl IQ collects accurate data about a pet’s food and water intake, produces real-time insights, and can send alerts when needed. Tom is presenting about his product at tomorrow morning’s IGNITE Greer event at Cartwright Food Hall. Check out our website to learn about an “accidental collision” that could lead to a meaningful collaboration with another Platform founder.

He's owned a manufacturing company that designed and built industrial automation systems. He's worked for a venture-backed startup to launch new products. Now, Tom Ostrowski is turning his attention to giving pet owners like himself some peace of mind. Tom graduated from Bootcamp cohort 15 earlier this month. He'll be presenting about his AI-driven smart bowl system at IGNITE Greer this week. Join us Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:30 on the second floor of Cartwright Food Hall to learn more about Tom and his new company, Tech Pet IQ. You'll also get a chance to help us plan our Platform programming for 2025. What support do you need from us to help you grow your company? What kinds of topics do you want to learn more about? Who has a great entrepreneurial journey to share? We want your feedback. See you Wednesday morning!
