The recent Holiday Break gave us the opportunity to install solar panels on our main office roof. The multi-day project added even more green energy to our facility, combining with solar energy already installed in our barn and barn home. This green project would not have been possible without a generous grant from the Ruth McCormack Tankersley Charitable Trust, and the work done by Technicians for Sustainability. TROT thanks both organizations for the wonderful work they do, and for helping us improve our green footprint. Our new logo blends both Heroes & Horses in a symbolic symbiosis that fuses both together in harmony and energy. Our new coin is reflective of this, while respecting the lives and sacrifice of veterans and first responders. Introduced in 2006 as one of the first in the country, Heroes & Horses is a program intentionally designed to meet the unique and multifaceted needs of veterans and first responders of all abilities in our community. Our vision is to improve their quality of life by providing a mixture of adaptive riding, equine-assisted counseling, and community support. These programs have been successful in helping veterans and first responders experience improvements in emotional awareness, stress tolerance, independence, TBI, post-traumatic stress, impulse control and so much more. As always, no veteran, first responder or their family is ever charged for program services; it is by the dedication of our community that we are able to offer these essential programs to them at no cost. Get out of your mind and drop into your body. Grounding, senses awakened, self expression, freedom, and release are the gifts waiting to be discovered. The dance with horses calls for present moment awareness to be with the sentient teachers. To listen, allow, and receive. There will be guided and free movement. No dance or horse experience is required. Wear closed toe shoes that are comfortable to move in. Clothing that allows for movement and outdoor climate. It will take place under our covered arena.
