Health Insurers are trying to get out of paying for anesthesia. 🤦 On November 1, Blue Cross Blue Shield (specifically Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans representing Conneticut, New York, and Missouri) announced a policy revision that is set to take effect on February 1, 2025. The change will impact anesthesia claims under CPT codes 00100 through 01999. "Under the new policy, Anthem BCBS will use CMS physician work time values to determine the allowable time for anesthesia services. Claims exceeding the predetermined time limits will be denied." Connecticut state senator Dr. Jeff Gordon stated that as a medical doctor, he can provide many real-world examples that demonstrate how predetermined time limits for anesthesiology coverage are unreasonable. "This policy is contrary to providing good and safe medical care for people in Connecticut and other states. It could result in avoidable adverse events or unnecessary poor outcomes. Why would Anthem BCBS pursue such a policy?" (Dr. Jeff Gordon) What are insurance companies here for if not to take care of patients? Do they even care about the patient? #healthcare #healthinsurance #selfpayhealthcare

During our workshops we help people with putting together a self-pay healthcare plan of action. One of the most common questions we get during theses workshops is, 'is it even possible to switch to self-pay with my chronic condition?' People with chronic conditions often feel like they're stuck in a stalemate. They're dependent on a system that is crippling their financial position, leaving them feeling stressed and anxious about their condition. Our answer is usually yes, depending on the circumstances. But, what we've learned is that people are often surprised by the amount of online resources and support they can get when they start doing in-depth research on their condition.

You'll never have to worry about navigating self-pay alone!
Investor & Entrepreneur | Founder @ The SelfPay Sentinel | Founder and Managing Partner @ Agius and Associates LLC | Expert in Financial Planning and Analysis
Most of the time, discussions about transitioning to the self-pay model bring up concerns about having to navigate the process independently. When Brielle and I made the decision to switch to self-pay, our main challenge was the idea of embarking on this journey alone, with no support or input from other's who've done it before. This is why one of the most important aspects of The SelfPay Sentinel is community! We want to build a strong community that is always there to provide support for our members. Self-pay is intimidating if you're trying to do it alone! We can't wait to launch our membership and introduce The SelfPay Sentinel Community! #healthcare #healthinsurance #selfpayhealthcare
