Horizon Europe Project

About us

Industrial-Urban Symbiosis (I-US) fosters cooperation between municipalities, regions, and industries for managing resources, waste, energy, water, and infrastructures. The FOAK Theseus project will establish a Hubs4Circularity (H4C) model in Athens/Attica, Greece, covering 68 municipalities and 3.7 million inhabitants, as a pilot for national expansion to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Theseus will validate technologies for water, energy, and materials (IPs 2, 3), integrate digital/robotic solutions (IP4), and implement innovative governance and cooperation models (IPs 1, 5) to upscale solutions and expand ecosystems. Aligning with Processes4Planet (P4P) and CCRI strategies, it leverages existing innovations for circular economy solutions. By targeting water, energy, and material flows with high European replication potential, Theseus provides a systemic approach to close resource loops. Inspired by the mythological reformer, Theseus aims to drive regional transformation while offering scalable solutions for EU regions. Theseus has received funding by the European Union under Grant Agreement No 101178059
