In addition to preparing for the upcoming Iowa DDCouncil Conference, Thoroughways is preparing to partner with Warren County organizations to present a series, Skills Pay the Bills, leading up to Thanksgiving. When Thoroughways was developed, one of the concepts discussed included Participant's Hopes and Dreams being included in their treatment planning. In a combined 32 years we have observed times when Participant's Hopes and Dreams were not consistently included within their treatment plans. We challenge ourselves to ask "Why not" versus identifying a list of reasons a goal is not achievable. We are excited to present this concept at the upcoming Iowa DDCouncil, Make Your Mark! Self-Advocacy Conference.
