The annual application to join Spur Local's network of #nonprofit partners is open through February 11, 2025. Spur Local, formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy, is a DMV-based nonprofit focused on building a more equitable and just local community by raising the awareness of, and building capacity for, local nonprofits through connecting organizations with donors and providing trainings regarding nonprofit management, among other initiatives. Thread Strategies is excited to celebrate with our partners at Life Pieces To Masterpieces as Executive Director Mary Brown has been named as an honoree in the THROUGHLINE Art Exhibition - Volume II. This exhibition is an immersive art experience designed to honor a selection of women change-makers shaping their local community culture. Leveraging photography, painting, performance art, and culinary craft, this exhibition will highlight local artists as they share their interpretation of these incredible women. Thread encourages our Spool to educate itself about H.R. 9495, a bill that would grant the Secretary of the Treasury unilateral authority to revoke nonprofit status. The bill opens the door to potential abuse and politicization of impartial policy decisions and threatens free speech. Congress will vote on this bill again on Thursday, November 21.
