Promoting environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system!
About us
Three Rivers Park District is a park system in the west suburban Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area of Minnesota. We manage almost 27,000 acres of park reserves, regional parks, regional trails, and special-use facilities. The name "Three Rivers" comes from our parks' geography, situated within the watersheds that flow into three significant rivers to this region: the Mississippi, the Minnesota and the Crow. The mission of Three Rivers Park District is to promote environmental stewardship through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. through recreation and education in a natural resources-based park system. With facilities for every season, including picnicking, swimming, play areas, boating, fishing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, golfing, camping and sledding, Three Rivers Parks is the place for recreation, play and relaxation. #MississippiGateway Construction Update! While exterior site work at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park was generally put on hold for the winter season, some progress continued on the shelters in the River Flats area as well as the gravel pathways and shelter at the South Pond Learning Area. Most of the contractors' efforts in the past month were focused on the Gateway Center and will be continuing up to the point of occupancy. Staff occupancy of the Gateway Center is anticipated in February. Minor work remains on the exterior of the Gateway Center and is in the process of being finished. In the interior, several rooms are generally complete, while other rooms are receiving finishing touches such as lights, wood trim, countertops, flooring and a final coat of paint. Mechanical heating and ventilation equipment are in the process of start-up, programming and testing. When ready, final inspections will be scheduled and crews will install final fixtures, furniture and equipment such as storage shelving, exhibits and aquariums.
