Last month, as part of the recce for the upcoming TiE Global Retreat, set to take place from July 3rd to 5th in Estonia, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Estonia and the Netherlands. Alongside Mahavir Pratap Sharma and TiE Global ED Vijay Menon, we engaged with ambassadors, business leaders, and local partners to explore how TiE can expand its global impact. This visit allowed us to engage with ambassadors, business leaders, and local partners to explore how TiE can expand its global impact while also ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience for our members at the retreat. 1. Estonia: 🔹 Met with Shri Ajaneesh Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Estonia, who recognized TiE’s global efforts in fostering entrepreneurship. 🔹 Attended a cultural dinner at Hansa, hosted by Invest in Estonia, experiencing Estonian hospitality and gaining insights into the local business landscape. 🔹 Explored Estonia’s Briefing Room, witnessing firsthand how its digital governance model enables entrepreneurs to operate from anywhere in the world. 🔹 Engaged with EstVCA board member Rain Tamm at Fotografiska, an inspiring community space reminiscent of LaMakaan in Hyderabad, created by my friend Ashhar Farhan and his peers. Key Takeaway: Estonia proves that policy and infrastructure matter in building world-class startup ecosystems. 2. The Netherlands: 🔹 Met with Shri Kumar Tuhin, Indian Ambassador to the Netherlands, and First Secretary Satya Pinisetty. The Ambassador, familiar with TiE from his tenure in San Francisco, recalled fond memories of shared connections and TiE’s contributions. 🔹 Attended the India House inauguration by Dr. (CA) Vikas S. Chaturvedi and Prachee Van Brandenburg in The Hague—an exciting platform for Indian entrepreneurs expanding into Europe.
