𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 The European Union funded 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 Project participated in the Industrial and Manufacturing Conference and Exhibition (𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄) from 25 to 27 November 2024. The event was organized by the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) at Al-Manara Center for International Conferences and Egypt Center for International Exhibitions in Cairo. Held annually under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, 𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄 serves as a key platform to address challenges in the #IndustrialSector, foster partnerships, and promote #SustainableEconomicDevelopment. 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 participated for the first time in this year’s edition, with the objective of engaging with stakeholders from government, the private sector, development partners, and NGOs, to introduce the project and raise awareness about how it aims to contribute to a stronger and more competitive Egyptian industrial sector through: Ø strengthening Egypt’s policy ecosystem and business environment, supporting public institutions and business development services. Ø enhancing #ValueChains and #Clusters to help Egypt fully benefit from trade opportunities and achieve long-term #EconomicGrowth. During the event, 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 ’s National Coordinator met with Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, to explore cooperation opportunities under the 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 project. The discussion centred on #Cluster and #SME development, with a focus on the results of the cluster mapping exercises and validation workshops conducted with national stakeholders. Dr. Abdel Halim highlighted the significance of cluster development as a key approach for #LocalDevelopment in Egypt. Through such engagements, TIGARA reaffirms its commitment to supporting Egypt’s industrial sector as a driver of #SustainableDevelopment. It was an honor to attend Gender-Responsive Industrial Policy Training as part of the ongoing project (TIGARA) that is funded by the #EuropeanUnion and implemented by the #United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation. 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭’𝐬 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 Within the framework of the #EuropeanUnion funded 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 Project, experts from Egypt’s General Organization For Export & Import Control | GOEIC and the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS) participated in an Expert Group Meeting under the theme “Rethinking Quality Infrastructure: Quality Policies for a Sustainable Future.” The event was organized at UNIDO’s Headquarters in Vienna from 13 to 15 November and brought together over 50 international experts and policymakers to discuss the evolving role of #QualityInfrastructure (QI) systems in addressing pressing global challenges, including #CimateChange, #DigitalTransformation, and shifting regulatory demands. The contributions of the Egyptian delegates highlighted #Egypt’s efforts to develop a roadmap for a national Quality Policy, aligning with global best practices and sustainability objectives. Central to the discussions was UNIDO’s #QualityPolicy Trilogy, a set of guiding principles, a technical guide, and a practical tool developed with International Network on Quality Infrastructure (INetQI). These resources support the establishment of #resilient quality infrastructure systems that contribute to #SustainableTrade, #EnvironmentalProtection, and societal wellbeing. Participants explored ways to update these frameworks to meet current needs, drawing on regional experiences from #LatinAmerica, #MiddleEastNorthAfrica, Asia, and Africa. Discussions emphasized the need for context-specific approaches to Quality Policies, recognizing regional differences and addressing challenges such as trust, inter-agency collaboration, and participation barriers. The meeting also introduced the #QI4SD Index, a tool for assessing the alignment of national QI systems with the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). This approach enables policymakers to evaluate and strengthen QI contributions to #SustainableDevelopment. The event underscored the critical role of QI systems in supporting sustainable growth and fostering international cooperation in an era of rapid global change. TIGARA Project participates in the United Nations Information Centre's Press Briefing Showcasing the project expected impact in Egypt. The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Cairo hosted a comprehensive press briefing on 13 November, 2024, highlighting the impactful work of TIGARA Project, funded by the #EuropeanUnion and implemented by UNIDO. The session featured presentation on key activities and initiatives, underscoring the TIGARA Project efforts in advancing inclusive and sustainable industrial development. During the press briefing, TIGARA's National Coordinator outlined the project's goals to boost Egypt’s #EconomicGrowth by enhancing #Export orientation and #Competitiveness. He highlighted efforts to strengthen the #IndustrialPolicy ecosystem and #QulaityInfrastructure and support #SMEs through #DigitalTransformation. The briefing served to raise awareness of the diverse activities undertaken by the project, with in-depth insights into its contribution towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐃𝐎’𝐬 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 Project organized a training workshop on #ProjectAnalysis and feasibility assessment using Computer Model for Feasibility Analysis and Reporting (𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑) software, in partnership with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) from 10–14 November 2024, at the premises of GAFI in Cairo, Egypt. The objective of the training workshop was to equip participants with UNIDO’s globally recognized methodologies for project formulation and appraisal using 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑. The participants were trained to effectively use the 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑 tool for #FeasibilityAnalysis. This included enabling them to conduct comprehensive #Financial and #Economic analyses, simulate various project scenarios, and generate detailed reports to support informed decision-making in #Investment projects. 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑: 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑 is a versatile tool that enables users to simulate both the financial and economic aspects of #Investment #Projects, supporting decisions for various project types—from new initiatives to expansion or rehabilitation of enterprises. Since its inception in 1983, 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐀𝐑 has served as an essential UNIDO tool for project analysis, now utilized by over 11,000 users in 160+ countries. Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade discusses the "EU Support for Trade, Industry, Growth, and Rapid Market Access - TIGARA Project" with a delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO - UNIDO Egypt) and the #EuropeanUnion. H.E Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held an extensive meeting with Mr. Patrick Gilabert, Representative of the Regional Hub of the UNIDO, and Ms. Alice Beislin, Head of the Human Development and Inclusive Growth Team at the EU Delegation to Egypt. The meeting reviewed the "EU Support for Trade, Industry, Growth, and Rapid Market Access - TIGARA" project, along with several UNIDO initiatives in Egypt. The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry, UNIDO Egypt, and the European Union. The Minister stated that the meeting discussed UNIDO’s new project, "#EU Support for #Trade, #Industry, #Growth, and Rapid #MarketAccess - TIGARA," which aims to support the Egyptian government's efforts to enhance #Industrial companies' #Exports and promote #EconomicDevelopment in Egypt through an export-oriented approach and boosting the #Competitiveness of the #IndustrialSector. El-Khatib explained that the project is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, and the Ministry of Industry for a duration of five years. He noted that the project aims to increase the competitiveness of the #privatesector, promote #SustainablEeconomicGrowth, and create #JobOpportunities. The Minister highlighted that the government is currently implementing additional reforms in financial, monetary, and trade policies, which contribute to attracting more domestic and foreign investments and increasing #EgyptianExports to international markets. He added that Egypt's market has many distinctive investment potentials, making it an attractive destination for global investors, including a skilled workforce, distinguished engineering talent, and competitive wage rates. For his part, Mr. Patrick GILABERT 🇺🇳, Representative of the Regional Hub of UNIDO, stated that the "EU Support for Trade, Industry, Growth, and Rapid Market Access - TIGARA Project" aims to develop and enhance the #IndustrialSector in Egypt through the adoption of #IndustrialPolicies, promotion of #Innovation, improvement of institutional capacities, and reinforcement of #Sustainability.
